A BIG thank you to Abigail Parenteau for her help with this week's newsletter!!!
Classroom Happenings!
In preschool, Mrs. Locicero has been reading a variety of Gingerbread books! The students then worked collaboratively to create a bar graph displaying which book was liked the most. These three and four year-olds also learned how to roll out gingerbread cookies using rolling pins and cookie cutters with homemade gingerbread play dough, and decorated laminated gingerbread cutouts and dressed them with colored play dough. Check out the fun captured in the pictures below!
Second grade students worked on making real gingerbread cookies this week. While taking part in this amazing activity, they also practiced reading, measuring, and using their fine and large motor skills!
Miss Huhtanen's class is learning about muscles, bones, and tendons in science. Her student's created a robot hand out of paper and string (to represent bones and tendons). Check out the picture below!
Mrs. Angelone's students finished creating their three-D maps in Social Studies this week!
Miss Lotreck's seventh grade students are learning how to read music and play songs with their Boomwhackers!
Mrs. Medbery's first graders are learning how to sew as they create a costume for their pig to prepare for the big pig race!
Mrs. Gervais is working hard in reading with her enrichment group!
Our second grade students disguised their poor turkeys around the holiday seasons and then wrote about their creation!
Our mentors are hard at work! Check out some of our mentors at work in first grade.
Ms. Dibble and her students have created a giving tree, reinforcing what they are learning in our Choose Love program.
Our staff at Sterling Community School have been working hard to make our school look bright and cheery! Check out some of the bulletin boards that they have created!
Cafe Conversation
Did you know that a student could have someone special come and eat with them during their lunch?! Just let your child's teacher know when you will be coming. Lunches are $4.00 or $5.00 for adults. Also, we will be trying out a new meal. On Monday, we will be serving Buffalo Chicken Nachos!
News from the Nurse!
The Giving Tree
Mrs. Smith has put up our giving tree once again this year. There are still "ornaments" to take if you would like to help buy items for children in need!
