Cyber-Bullying and Your Child

Your Role as A Parent

Cyber-bullying is becoming a bigger problem in society today as more and more children have access to the internet. To keep your child safe, discuss cyber-bulling and make sure that he/she knows you are open to talk if they are ever in that situation. Be sure to check on what websites your child frequents and talk to them about internet safety.

What to Do if Your Child is Cyber-Bullied

Remind your child that this isn't their fault. Cyber-bulling can happen to anyone. Be sure to save all the information about the bullying by printing it. Respond thoughtfully, not quickly. You need to be in control of your emotions and the situation. Work with your child's school or other area in which the bullying could affect them. Talk to other parents, and if appropriate, contact the police.
