25 Years of Enchanted Reading
Congratulations to our top Bright Summer Readers for 2019. Our top four readers were invited to an enchanted celebration on September 16th at the Pharr Event Center. Also, all students who turned in a reading log were invited to a breakfast at the library.
2019 Freshmen Orientation
All incoming freshmen were invited to the library for an orientation. Mrs. Ochoa went over library procedures and students had an opportunity to check out their first books as high school students.
Book Raiders Book Club
We are so excited to have so many students interested in joining our book club this year.
We can't wait to start reading our first selection, "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.

National Banned Books Week
Banned Books Week (September 22-28, 2019) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. We celebrated National Banned Books Week with a display that was put together by Ms. Rachel Alvarez.
Library Showcase- Poetry Monsters
Our showcase for the 1st 6wks were Poetry Monsters created by students from Ms. Cardenas class.
HEB Adopts PSJA North
Thank you HEB Plus! in Pharr for adopting PSJA North for the 2019-2020 school year. Our staff was delighted with their lunch bags packed with snacks. A great way to start off the year!
New Arrivals
Come check out our new manga collection! Did you know that our library has over 1,500 manga and comics available for checkout? Stay tuned for more titles arriving the 2nd 6wks!!!
September 11th Remembrance Reception
It was an honor to host the September 11th reception at the library this year.

MackinVia Presentation
On August 14, Mrs. Ochoa, Mrs. Quiroz, Mrs. Huerta and Mrs. Lugo presented to middle school and high school teachers on ways they could utilize MackinVia for their classroom instruction.
EcoRise Presentation
On September 6th, Mrs. Ochoa introduced EcoRise to all the PSJA librarians during their monthly meeting. Mrs. Ochoa is the first EcoRise Ambassador for South Texas. She hopes to instills a passion for nature in her students and works to spread environmental stewardship at PSJA. She believes that teaching sustainability is the way to help our students become critical and creative thinkers, global and ethical students, and leaders who will stand up to protect our future.
PTA Meeting Presentation
Mrs. Ochoa also presented to our parents during the September PTA meeting. She gave parents an overview of all the resources available to their children at our library. She also discussed how MackinVia is a resource that student can access at school and at home for educational purposes.
Congratulations To Our Top Patron
Congratulations to Cristian Covarrubias for checking out and reading the most books the 1st 6 wks. Cristian read 73 manga books!!!
Congratulations to the winner of our sign in drawing!
We had a total of 4,099 sign-ins the 1st 6wks! Our lucky winner for the drawing was Mia Nunez.
