Week of March 16, 2015

Visiting Author

On Monday, we will be having an assembly from Gino Perri, author of the book Lucky Boy. He will read this story to the students and bring his pet parakeet. Grades K-2 will be at 1:00 p.m. and Grades 3-5 will be at 1:45 p.m.

March is Reading Month Special Days

Monday, March 16: Students need to turn in their weekly reading verification slip

Tuesday, March 17: Wear Green Day

Friday, March 20: Mismatch Day- please bring a $1 donation to support St. Baldrick's Foundation (if possible)

Regular Start Wednesday

This Wednesday, school will start at the normal time, 8:25 a.m.

Ms. Kirkwood's Class Field Trip

Ms. Kirkwood's class will be going on a field trip Wednesday morning. They will be leaving Upton at 9:30 a.m.

Miss Michigan Visits Upton

On Wednesday, Miss Michigan, K.T. Maviglia, will be reading the book M is for Mitten to our students. The assembly will begin at 12:40 p.m.

5th Grade Middle School Events

On Thursday, staff from Royal Oak Middle School will be meeting with our 5th graders at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the scheduling process for next year.


Also, there is a Parent Meeting scheduled at Royal Oak Middle School for 5th grade parents at 6:00 p.m. Information about Band and Orchestra will also be shared that evening. You are also invited to attend their Open House from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Volunteers Needed

As you may be aware, we have an election on Tuesday, May 5. Upton Elementary is used as a polling place. We are in need of volunteers to help direct voters to the Media Center to vote. I am looking for volunteers to serve hour-long shifts starting at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until 4:00 p.m. Please let me know if you are available to help on this day. Thank you in advance!
