Future SMS Spartans

Future Spartan Families,

The intent of this newsletter is to share several pieces of information with families regarding what parents and students can expect about the transition to Schmucker Middle School. Several short videos have been created to help explain the different programs that we offer to incoming 6th grade students. Please mark you calendars and plan to attend one of our Parent Information nights in February. The dates are listed below.

Check out our website for important information about our school and please visit out our social media outlets. We look forward to welcoming current 5th grade students and their families to SMS next school year.

State Champions

The Schmucker Spell Bowl team were state champions in 2014 and 2015! We look forward to a three-peat and welcome any current 5th grade students to participate as a 6th grade student. Schmucker also won the Academic State Super Bowl championships for the English and Interdisciplinary divisions in 2015. These teams will be competing in March.

6th Grade Electives

The video below highlights the different electives that 6th grade students can select. Students can choose to either take Band, Orchestra, Choir or Art. The only exception is we only offer Art to 60 students through a random selection process. Enjoy the video!

Hour of Code: Anybody can Learn to Code

We introduced the Hour of Code to all students during our advisory class in December of 2015. All students were given the opportunity to participate in the Hour of Code and learn more about computer programming. We will continue to build on the success we experienced this year during the 2016/2017 school year. Check out the website below to learn more.
