It's hard to believe we've been in school for a full month now - time certainly does fly when you're having fun! Please see the newsletter below for important information that pertains to your student, and GO WILDCATS!

Progress Updates (Grades 3-8)

We will no longer be sending home paper copies of progress notices. Please login to PowerSchool to view updated grades for your child. We are currently half-way through quarter 1! If you are having difficulties logging in, please contact Mrs. Boguslaw at


Please be sure to follow our traffic flow map and signage around the school grounds. Please do not block crosswalks or stop in areas that are not designated as student drop off areas. We appreciate everyone's cooperation, as this will allow for traffic flow in and out to go much more smoothly. Thank you in advance.

Door W3 is the current main entrance to access the school office. There is a buzzer located next to the door that alerts Ms. Ortega.

Due to our construction project, we will be modifying our entrances into the building for certain grade levels. Grades will enter the building as follows:

K and 1st- W4 ( Drop-off 13th Ave and 23rd Place)

2nd and 3rd- W3 (Drop-off 13th Ave and 23rd Place)

4th and 5th- E2 (Drop-off in front of District Office on 24th)

6th, 7th and 8th- 6E (12th Ave)

24th Street west of 13th will be closed periodically throughout the day without notice due to our construction project. You will need to head south on 13th Ave.

Important Information for 8th Grade Families

Attention Future Bulldogs!

If your student resides in Riverside-Brookfield High School's district, please see the attached information regarding important future dates. Please pay special attention to information regarding the placement test that will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The deadline to register for the test is Friday, September 24, 2021.

Breakfast & Lunch

Students have the opportunity to participate in our breakfast program at Komarek School. Breakfast will begin at 7:45am daily. Students should line-up at door W3 (West Building). Please see the breakfast menu found below, as well as this month's updated lunch menu.

Menus have changed last minute. Once we are aware of a menu change, we will post the updated menu on our website.

Tech Corner

Student Devices

Devices have been distributed for all students in grades K-8. If your student has an issue with their current device, please inform the homeroom teacher. We will then be able to provide a loaner device as we diagnose the problem. Please note that sending devices home will be at the discretion of the homeroom teacher in grades K-5, so you may not be seeing your student's device every day.

When devices are sent home, please ensure that school iPads and Chromebooks are charged and ready to go for the next day of school. These devices are important for your student's learning, and having a charged device helps your student's day start smoothly. Thank you in advance!


Please note that headphones are on the school supply list for all students in grades K-8. These headphones ensure that our students can focus when using their devices. If you have not sent headphones to school with your student, please do so when possible. PowerSchool is the platform used by Komarek School to store student grades. For updated information regarding your student's progress, please log in to PowerSchool. For returning families, our parent login is the same as what was used at registration. For our new families, login information was provided via email after you registered your student. Please check PowerSchool regularly for updates on your student's progress. West Suburban Special Recreation Association Activities (WSSRA)

The West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) provides enrichment activities and programs for students with disabilities. Komarek School will offer a Winter/Spring 'after school club' for students with special needs (registration information coming soon!), but in the meantime if you are looking for after-school or weekend activities for your child, please see the Fall WSSRA brochure below. Paper copies of this brochure are also available outside of our District Office.

Fall Preschool Screening

Thursday, Oct. 7th, 9am

We are planning to hold our first preschool screening this fall on Thursday, October 7th. We will also have additional preschool screenings in January and April.

Preschool screening is designed to assess a child's development and assist in identifying children who may require further evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services or those who may be eligible for a state-funded preschool program. Your child must be at least two and one half years old to attend a screening. The screenings are by appointment, and at no cost to families.

Participation in the screening process does not guarantee a spot within the preschool program, but may put your child on the list of potential preschoolers for this year and/or next year. Click here to request an appointment!

**If you have a child currently receiving early intervention services, you are not required to attend a screening. Please work with your child's CFC case manager to schedule a transition meeting with the Director of Student Services**
