Week of October 22nd
What's Happening?
This week is conference week. When possible (and scheduling allows), you may meet with more than one of your child's teachers. We are looking forward to meeting with each of you this week. Students will be released from school at 12:50. If your child will have a different transportation plan for Wed/Thurs, please complete a transportation change form (link below) and send it to school with your child.

Reading and Word Study with Mrs. Lee
Reading: We are beginning our study on nonfiction reading. This week we will review what exactly is a nonfiction book and learn Notice and Note Signposts that will help us up our comprehension levels.
We will have a word study unit this week.
Word Study: dict words: Homework due date and the test will be Friday.
Writing with Mrs. Rogers
Grammar- In grammar, we are learning about figurative language. Specifically we focused on similies, metaphors and idioms this week.
Science and Social Studies with Ms. Wiley
Next week we will finish learning about the US Government and Economics. We will learn about banking on Monday. The government and economics test will be on 10/23. Students know how to navigate to my eClass page and find for the resources needed to be studying nightly for this upcoming test. We will have our notebook check for the Government & Economics unit on 10/23.
Details for the notebook check on Tuesday: If the assignments below are included and complete in student notebooks, they will receive a check on the rubric. If not, they will receive an "x" on the rubric in the appropriate section. These grades will be entered on an E, S (1-2 x's), N (3-4 x's), U (5 or more x's) scale.
The following assignments will be checked: Rights and Responsibilities, Due Process Survey, Examples of Due Process, Amending the Constitution, Producers and Consumers, Goods and Services, Goods and Services (Big Business and Government), Banking organizer.
Science:
The classification retake will be on 10/22. In order to retake this assessment students must complete the Summative Mastery Ticket and submit all attached work to me on Monday. Remember students are only allowed to retake 2 assessments per subject, per semester.
