Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
We will conduct Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, October 28 beginning at noon. Our students have a half-day so that teachers can conference with each parent. Your child's teacher will be in contact with you to set up a time for a google meeting or a phone conference. Your child's teacher will go over their progress and give you strategies to help your child be successful this year.
Wear and Wash Your Masks
Please remember to send your child with their mask every day. Also, we are noticing that some masks are not being washed often and are very dirty. We don't want kids to breathe in mildew, dirt, and grime, so we ask for your help to keep our kids safe. Please wash your child's mask often and make sure they have their mask on their faces, covering their nose and mouth, as they leave the car in the mornings. We want to keep all of our staff and students safe!
Ice Cream
RES is excited to be able to celebrate your child's birthday while at school. Each morning, birthdays will be recognized on the announcements.
Since we are unable to celebrate with treats from home, the cafeteria will be offering ice cream cups for children's birthdays. Each ice cream cup will be .75 cents.
Please contact your child's teacher one week in advance. They will tell you the number of students in the class and the amount of money to send to school. They will also coordinate with food services to arrange for your child's birthday treat for their class.
Our RES Fall Parties will be held on Friday, October 30th from 2:15 pm – 2:45 pm
in each classroom. Elementary students may dress as a Book Character and wear
a school appropriate costume. Face masks will be required with the Book Character costumes.
We are purchasing pre-packaged items from RISD food services for our parties to ensure that safety protocols are followed. Our Learn Safe protocols do not allow any treats from
home as a safety precaution due to COVID-19, and the campus will remain closed to visitors. Thank you for your support and for helping to keep our parties safe and fun for our students.
Reminders for Sending Kids to School
Please make sure that you keep your student home if they are running a fever, have diarrhea, or are vomiting. Do not give them medicine and then send them to school as it often masks symptoms. It is important to work together in order to keep all of our students safe.
Per our Learn Safe Plan: (Click on the Learn Safe Plan button below to see the whole plan.)
In evaluating whether an individual has symptoms consistent with COVID-19, consider the following questions. Have they recently begun experiencing any of the following in a way that is not normal for them?
Fever, above 100.0 F or higher
Sore throat
New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
Gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea/vomiting/abdominal pain)
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
New School Hours - Start Time
Reminder!! We start school at 7:30. Your child needs to be at school at 7:30 each morning. The tardy bell rings at 7:45. If your child is late, then they may not get a breakfast.
New School Hours - End Time
Reminder!! Our school day is over at 3:00. Your child needs to be picked up by 3:00 each afternoon. We have had several students that are left at school each afternoon, and we need to have them picked up at 3:00. Please be courteous of our teachers' time, as they often have team planning or meetings at 3:00, and they would like to be able to leave on time in the afternoons, too.
Arrival and Dismissal
Please make sure that your child's car seat is on the passenger side of the car, or that they are able to get out of their car seat to exit and enter the car on the passenger side. It is not safe to have staff or students walk into the street, around the cars, and to the sidewalk.
