The Clique by Lisi Harrison
Massie Block, a seventh grader, is the head of the Pretty Committee; a committee made of four rich, popular, and trend-setting girls. Massie, Dylan, Kristen, and Alicia are fully aware of what is in and what is out. Head-to-toe in Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, these girls know how to use a credit card. When Mr. Block invites his unemployed college friend to stay at the Block’s guest house, Massie is forced to be best friends with Claire Lyons, who is the same age as Massie but whose clothes are “so out.” Massie on the other hand, cannot afford to add a B-list girl in her A-list group. Claire is then forced to attempt to make new friends at OCD (an exclusive private school) while Massie and her friends try to knock her down. The constant humiliating and embarrassment makes Claire wish that she never moved in the first place. But when Claire finally fights back Massie harder than ever, turning Massie’s friends against her, Claire gets to experience what it is like to be popular. When I finished ready the ending of this book, I could tell that there would be many more books to come. In this book you will get a glimpse of the importance of popularity and revenge in a teenager’s everyday life. I would give this book of rating of four and a half stars because I loved that the author made the story realistic and somewhat relatable. I also liked the fact that the author adding in events that left you on the edge of your seat and eager to read. This book most likely would attract girls in middle school because of some events that occur. Overall, this book was a great read and I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants a little drama to read about.

As time passes they fall more and more in love and create a plan to escape to a free land called the Wilds before Lena’s procedure due to Lena’s hurt feelings that her family never told her that her mom was alive.
