COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE VISITS
Throughout the school year College/University representatives will be hosting virtual vists to Mount Horeb High School. The Student Services Office will publish information about these visits to provide you opportunities to meet with the individuals of your choice. More information will be coming about these visits soon.
Students are also encouraged to participate in virtual campus tours of any university or college they are interested in exploring. Universities across the state and country are adjusting to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing opportunities for students to visit their campus without leaving home. Explore your universities website or reach out to your school counselor for more details.
ACT EXAM
Last year as juniors, you took the ACT. The results from that test may be used for admissions purposes this fall at your prospective schools. If you are interested in taking additional ACT exams, please see the information below about registration deadlines for upcoming exams and register here: ACT.org Not all institutions require or recommend taking the ACT Writing Test. If you plan to enter college, check directly with the institutions you are considering to find out their requirements or ask your high school counselor which test option you should take.

AP EXAMS
AP Registration and Ordering
Here is what AP students and their families need to know:
>Students will be asked to register for AP Exams this fall by October 1st. This process will occur during their scheduled AP course with their Mount Horeb High School AP teacher. AP Exams will continue to be given in May.
>The exam fee will be $86 this year. Given this year's unusual circumstances, College Board is waiving the $40 cancellation or unused exam fee for any student who decides not to test.
>Mount Horeb High School will assign and collect fees through the student/parent portal of Infinite Campus. Students must register for their exams through their College Board account by October 1st. Once registered for the exam(s), the fee will be assigned in Infinite Campus. The exam registration fee must be paid by November 1st to ensure that an exam will be ordered for your student.
>If your student is preparing for an AP exam independently without enrollment in a corresponding AP course at Mount Horeb High School please contact Sateash Kittleson(437-7287) immediately to ensure an exam is ordered for your student.
APPLYING TO COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES
Madison College and Southwest Technical College opened application processing for the 2021-22 school year on September 1st. If you are interested in applying, you should apply early as many high demand programs close early. Go to www.madisoncollege.edu or www.swtc.edu to begin the process. A complete application also requires a $30 fee, high school transcripts, and ACT or other placement test scores, depending on the program you select.
University of Wisconsin Public Universities
The best method to apply for admission to any UW System campus is online! It’s easy, fast, and over 90% of all applications received by University of Wisconsin System campuses are received electronically. The online University of WI System Application for Undergraduate Admission is just a click away at apply.wisconsin.edu. The application is also accessible from any UW System campus admissions page.
University of Wisconsin System institutions begin processing applications for admission on September 1st for the 2021 fall semester. New freshmen applying for admission should meet priority or deadline dates in order to assure full consideration for admission. All new freshmen are required to submit a nonrefundable application fee with each application for admission. All UW-System Schools have a fee of $50, except for UW-Madison, which is $60. Credit card payment is the preferred method with this online application. If you believe you qualify for a fee waiver, you will be able to indicate that in your online application. Contact your school counselor if you have any questions about the application and fee.
It is important to apply early, especially for students who are applying for admission at an institution where programs or majors may have enrollment limitations. Visit the UW Help website for additional information.
SENDING YOUR ACT SCORE
ACT scores are reported on your transcript, however some Universities may require you to submit an official ACT score from the ACT website. You may have already done this when you completed your ACT registration. If not, you must login at the ACT website, www.actstudent.org and pay an additional fee to have your scores sent to the respective schools that you are applying to. Many Universities are not requiring the ACT or SAT score to be included for consideration for the 2021-2022 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you wish for the admissions panel to NOT consider your ACT score, you may indicate that on your application. If you wish, you may also contact MHHS Student Services to remove your ACT score from your transcript.
