There are many people living with epilepsy/seizure disorder and other disabilities very happy to have the Cannabis- Marijuana Laws passed in their states. But there are many in other states still waiting.
Why are some states not on this list? Our list includes states that have legalized use of the marijuana plant for medical purposes. States that limit use to the nonpsychoactive marijuana extract called cannabidiol (CBD) are not included on this list, although we do keep track of those legal CBD states in our resource States with Laws Specifically about Legal Cannabidiol (CBD). Also not included are states whose legalization laws require physicians to "prescribe" marijuana (an illegal act under federal law) vs. "recommend" marijuana (considered protected free speech between doctor and patient), as well as states that have passed "affirmative defense" laws in which arrested marijuana users are allowed to mention medical use in their defense.

Living with Epilepsy, or any chronic illness, requires you to have the best healthcare team available. Finding these physicians are not always easy. Referrals, research, office visits, testing, its like an unending cycle just to find someone who suits you and your needs. Many times I questioned if my doctors really understood my epilepsy. Were they as empathetic as they led on? I came to realize that the healthcare team that I came to know and love over the years, were the #squadgoals one could only dream of when it comes to their medical care.
3 years ago I walked into my Primary Care Physicians office confused and completely hopeless. God knows I was trying to see the bright side, trying to be optimistic about what she would reveal. Waiting for her to enter, I rehearsed in my head what I would say. My mom believed it was seizures again but I could not bring myself to that conclusion. Dr. B. came into the room (not using full names here) ready to start the appointment. I explained I was having these intense migraines, forgetting tasks in the middle of them, not remembering how I got from point A to point B, smelling weird smells only I can smell and lastly losing complete control of my speech. The response I got was hmmm. Hmm? What do you mean Hmmm lady?! I proceeded to say “I had seizures my entire childhood.” The moment those words left my lips she immediately started a series of questions.......

Angels of Epilepsy says another prayer for rapper/artist Lil Wayne that has a history of living with epilepsy.
"It seems Lil Wayne might have suffered another seizure, despite the rapper’s denial.
The news comes in the wake of Weezy’s SummerFall concert cancellation in Willemstad, Curacao.
According to TMZ, organizers say they were told Wayne wouldn’t attend due to a seizure he suffered on Friday (Nov. 25) in Miami, but Tunechi’s camp says he didn’t attend due to a “breach of contract....."

According to the World Health Organisation, there are approximately 50 million people living with a form of epilepsy. It's one of the world's most common neurological disorders. Medical researchers still aren't certain what causes the epilepsy, instead preferring to label it as a range of different diseases brought under one umbrella by epileptic seizures.
Some people develop epilepsy as a result of head trauma, while others have it from birth. Seizures can be brief and barely recognisable, or they can last for hours. There are aspects to the condition too—including something called a focal seizure, an "aura" that involves a sensory overload before a seizure strikes......

Researchers at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children are poised to begin a clinical trial using cannabis extracts to treat children with severe epilepsy whose seizures can't be controlled with existing medications.
The trial is believed to be the first in Canada to test an oral preparation that contains both CBD and THC, compounds in marijuana that have been shown in the lab and through anecdotal reports to have anticonvulsant properties in children with treatment-resistant epilepsy.
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of hundreds of active chemicals in the marijuana plant, many of them touted to have medicinal properties. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive ingredient that produces the "high" associated with pot.
While research has found CBD to be effective in reducing seizures, there has been no rigorous study that's looked at the combination of CBD and THC, said pediatric neurologist Dr. Blathnaid McCoy, who will lead the clinical trial that begins early next year....
