PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As we finish the month of October, we are concluding the month with a virtual spirit week. Thank you to Stacia Friesen and Rhonda Mondry for planning great games, activities and dress up days for the week.

This next month we are moving toward the end of the Trimester. I want to share some things that students who are being successful in distance learning have in common:

  1. Students who have their cameras on during classroom discussions and class activities participate at a much higher rate and are more comfortable asking clarifying questions of the teachers.
  2. Students completing their planners and looking at StudentVue and all of their Google classrooms daily stay up to date and have all work in to the teacher.
  3. Students who are on time to class, stay on with the teacher, have a organized work place, and work throughout their day until 2:35 pm are getting much better grades than peers who do not does these things.

As a school, students are doing very well. Student grades at the 6 weeks were very good. I still want to remind all students to use the resources we have available for support throughout the day. An advantage during distance learning is that we are able to dedicate so much manpower toward guides and tutors. There is no student who will go without help. Please contact the school to be directed to our grade level guides/tutors.

As we move into the holiday season we want to make sure we can reach out and provide help for those in need. This has been a very tough year for many, and with so many resources needed to support the fire victims, we understand that local charities and businesses must dedicate a lot of resources to those victims. This means it is a little more difficult to get resources to our families who may need help this year. If you know of a family in need, or you would like to help a family this holiday season, please contact Hilary Cooper at 541-494-6800.
