Bios for December Election Candidates

Judy Descutner, Hickory, PA - Vice President

For the past 6 years, I have served the club as Secretary and Newsletter Editor, and earlier this year I took over as Vice President. I am proud to have Chaired the committee that created the first Barbet standard for the American Kennel Club. All of the work we have done to prepare for AKC’s inclusion of the Barbet in the Miscellaneous group has been very gratifying. This includes enrolling the Barbet into AKC’s Canine Health (CHIC) program, getting American dogs registered with the AKC FSS, enlarging our club membership, and supporting AKC events, such as our participation in Meet the Breeds, Responsible Dog Days, and the FSS/Misc dog shows.

Our Barbet breeding program is based on breeding sound, beautiful, and healthy dogs who are a joy to live with. Genetic diversity is of great importance, as is developing consistency within our litters. We are serious about having a line of dogs who are competitive at the shows and are easy to live with.

My entire life has been dominated with horses and dogs. I grew up showing Quarter Horses all over the United States, and had such a wonderful opportunity to travel with my parents and my horses.

I've primarily had Whippets since 1985, and I have also shown and finished championships on Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Bearded Collies, English Cocker Spaniels, Italian Greyhounds, Spinoni Italiano, and of course, Barbet. I enjoy learning about all breeds and I love studying pedigrees and discovering what the strengths and weaknesses are within different lines.

I also work part-time handling the finances of my husband's equipment manufacturing company, Atlantis Technologies LLC.

Lynn Vogt-Kinsey, Fish Creek, WI - Treasurer

I have been a member of the club for a little over 4 years. I was introduced to the Barbet 5 years or so ago and bought my first Barbet, Bric, from Stacy and Walter Able. Initially Bric was going to be a pet, but his co-owner, Leslie Woodward and I needed an excuse to travel back and forth across the country and decided to try and have some fun showing him. We have had a wonderful time introducing the breed to many, many people. We have since added to our family (thank you Judy Descutner) and now own 5 Barbets between us and are having a great time showing all of them in the Midwest, occasionally in the Eastern US and most recently in Canada.

I am a full time APNP in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I have been employed there since finishing Nurse Practitioner School in 1990.

I have great attention to detail and feel I would be an asset to the club as a treasurer. My previous business experience includes keeping the business books for my late husband’s general contracting business and working as a club manager for several years while attending nursing school. My accountant is always pleasantly surprised when my checkbook is balanced and reconciled to the penny every month when she reviews my accounts for taxes! I think I would be an asset as treasurer.
