The Future Ready Librarians Committee
During the Robbinsville Ready Skill committee work we solidified our vision for the Robbinsville graduate to embody the following essential skills: communication, collaboration, informed citizenry, emotional intelligence, innovative thinking, and resiliency. After that process, we started to question and wonder about how all of these essential skills present themselves in school-based opportunities.
One way is through the Media Center, which in many districts has become the central-hub for learning in each school building. Modern day Media Specialists have become teacher leaders, research specialists, resource curators, technology integrators, and much more. The Robbinsville School District Media Specialists have begun the process towards becoming Future Ready Librarians, an initiative focused around professional self-reflection, data-based improvement, and a collaborative approach to mobilize technology, media literacy and research in order to enrich the curriculum opportunities in each school setting. You can learn more about future ready librarians here: https://futureready.org/thenetwork/strands/future-ready-librarians/
Through the assistance of district leadership and support from the PTA and REF, we have begun the conversation around changing our Media Center spaces, curricula, and purpose. The Robbinsville Media Centers have undergone amazing transformations in the past school year and we invite you to hear more from each building’s Media Specialist below.
Sincerely,

Sharon Elementary School
Pond Road Middle School
The Pond Road Media Center has had a makeover! Not only are we proud to now have a much more open, flexible, and comfortable layout, but we are working hard to reorganize and update our materials as well. We now have Breakout Boxes, VR headsets, a Cricut Maker, and poster printer to supplement curricula in all subject areas and grade levels. Books are easier to find thanks to our newly genre-fied fiction collection and coming soon students and teachers will have access to a plethora of digital resources for all academic needs and personal interests. Our makerspace is coming along and offers students materials and opportunities to tinker and create. The MC has become quite an exciting and popular place with lots to explore and discover!
Robbinsville High School
RHS Media Center now has a flexible space ideal for collaboration and project-based learning. Along with our flex seating, we have a new quick-print station, chromebooks to meet student information needs, a newly genre-fied fiction section, and volume-zoned seating for those who may work better in a collaborative versus a silent environment.
Our space is often utilized by students seeking an area to complete group work, research projects, finding and checking out books, and even club meetings after school. Additionally, whole classes utilize the space for online catalog lessons, book tastings, database instruction, and so much more!
RHSMC is looking forward to a year filled with exploration, innovation, collaboration, and engagement with our student body, faculty, and community!
