It is hard to beat an earthquake, but we try,
Of course the first topic of conversation Monday morning was the huge earthquake. Each child had a great story to tell all the way from, "I slept right through it," to "Stuff was falling off the walls!" Here at school our building faired well and our school is off to its normal fast pace.
We have "Battle of Books," competitions coming up in a couple of weeks and Forensics in a couple of weeks after that, then our Enrichment Clusters as well. Somewhere in the middle of all that will be Valentines Day, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and PTO/Site Council meetings. I used to think this was the slow time of year, but I may have been wrong.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students can still register for next year, so if you know of any children in our attendance area that will turn 4 (for pre-K) or 5 years (for K) before September 1, 2016, please have them stop by the school for registration forms.
Hope you have a "unshaking" week!

Health tip from Mrs. Abel
“Healthy boundaries are important in how we learn to treat others and protect ourselves. We can help kids learn healthy boundaries by stopping teasing, tickling or physical affection when asked or if a child is uncomfortable, by giving a child privacy when needed, and by turning to other adults (instead of children) for emotional support or help with adult concerns.”
