January 2022 Edition for Parents/Guardians
π Happy New Year! π
Instructional School Day: 7:45 A.M. - 3:10 P.M.
Letter from the Principals
We pray your holiday season and winter break was restful and relaxing. It's hard to believe that we are entering the year 2022 already! This school year is going by quickly and these next 5 months will fly by just as fast as the first four. Let's hang on tight and enjoy every minute of it.
As we enter the new year, we want to gently remind you all of a few policies we have on campus. First, Northside ISD continues to closely monitor local health conditions and the rise in Omicron variant cases. We will return to school as planned on Monday, January 3rd. As always, the safety of the students and staff is our top priority. We will remain vigilant with the following safety protocols:
- Use of face masks by all staff, students, and visitors while inside the building or school bus are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
- Routine and frequent cleaning and disinfecting will continue.
- Frequent handwashing will be encouraged. Hand sanitizer is available for all students, staff and visitors in common areas and classrooms.
- Use of hand sanitizing before and after recess & lunch will be practiced.
- Seating charts in classrooms and cafeteria are utilized in case contract tracing is needed.
- In the event of positive cases of COVID-19, we will follow recommended CDC guidelines for contact tracing and quarantining. We continue to monitor local health conditions and any changes to these guidelines will be communicated.
- Use of individual water bottles from home for students (from home) will be suggested.
- Whenever possible, social distancing is encouraged.
- Minimal visitation on campus is encouraged, unless walking a child to class or attending to school business. At this time we are STRONGLY ENCOURAGING parents to refrain from coming in for lunch due to the rising cases with the COVID variant. The stage is reserved for lunch visits and limited space is available.
Our instructional day begins at 7:45 am. Students who arrive prior to that are allowed to have parents walk them into school. Students who arrive at 7:45 or after are considered tardy. At 7:45 the instructional day has begun, so we ask that parents check their child in at the front office and allow the staff to walk students to the classrooms if necessary.
The school day ends at 3:10 pm. Please understand instruction takes place until 3:00 pm. Signing students out early causes them to miss quality instruction. Please only sign children out early for health appointments or emergencies. Our office closes shortly after school ends. When children are not picked up by 3:30, students are at risk of being unsupervised. Please be respectful to our teachers and staff and ensure you have arrangements for your children to be picked up on time at the end of the day.
All concerns with grades, behavior, and your child's schooling should first be communicated with the teacher. The teacher is the adult whom spends the majority of the day with the student and is aware of the instruction, accommodations, behavior, and such that take place on a daily basis. Often when administration is contacted first, this knowledge is not known. We have found it is helpful for communication to take place between the teacher and parents first prior to contacting administration. Parents with further concerns after speaking to the teacher are welcome to call the administration office.
We appreciate the support with these procedures. It helps the school run smoothly and keeps the focus on the students and instruction.
Respectfully,
Sandra Luna, Principal
Jennifer Platt, Associate Principal
