5 ways parents can motivate children at home during the pandemic – without nagging or tantrums
When the district is "remote/distant learning" like today, remember that students should be logging in to their google classrooms, school email and doing work that is posted. Teachers do not have to give an extension for these days. Don't get a zero on an assignment that could have been completed. If students are having technical difficulties, be sure to contact your teacher.
Days like today are good days to zoom with your teachers if you have questions, not understanding an assignment and more.
*Create an area in the home that the student can use to work.
*Make sure they have all the supplies needed.
*Have a daily schedule in place for your student.
*Take small breaks between subjects. Reward yourself with a snack for accomplishing work in a subject area. Remember, we get passing periods at school as our breaks during the day.
Mr. Kirkpatrick has posted a link in the "Little Axe High School" for a student check-in. He checks that often throughout the day. Please remember that Mr. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Lampkin and Mrs. Harp are here to help in whatever way we can.
Be safe, stay warm!

Graduation update:
Venue: Firelake Arena
Date: May 21st, 2021
We have to prepare for graduation as if it were right now. Everything is subject to change. Little Axe faculty and staff understands what a big, important moment this is to our seniors and families. We will do our best to provide a memorable graduation for everyone.
The plan as of today:
*Each senior will be allow four family members at graduation.
*Families will sit together. Seats will be in groups of four and every other row will be skipped.
*Masks will be required for everyone.
*Tickets will be given to each senior closer to graduation. (More information to come as we get closer)
If for some reason we are told by the city/state we can not have graduation at Firelake, graduation will be conducted like last year.

College Board is hosting our first-ever series of virtual college fairs called BigFuture™ Days. Encourage sophomores and juniors at your school to sign up for a chance to connect directly with college admissions representatives and current college students. They'll have a chance to explore colleges in a way that's not overwhelming, ask questions about topics they want to learn about, and take action on key college planning steps.
Direct students to register at cb.org/bigfuturedays.
Yearbook
YEARBOOK ALERT:
IT’S LOVED FOREVER
The hand-written notes from classmates. Actual PRINTED photos. The chance to look back at outdated hairstyles. All this and more is why there's nothing like a yearbook.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Even during these unusual times, the Little Axe High School yearbook team is working hard to create a yearbook that is one-of-a-kind and reflects the unique moments that students are experiencing this year.
