Navigation Notes
Happy Spring Break Westside Parents and Families! Although we will be missing our students, we hope you and your families enjoy this time off together to build new memories and rejuvenate for the remainder of the year. A few reminders for the week:
- Daylight Savings Time is this weekend, so don't forget to SPRING your clocks forward!
- Our office and school building will be closed this entire week. We will open back up Monday, March 22nd to answer your calls and questions.
Not sure how to keep your child busy this week? Here are a few ideas:
- Have them read or listen to an audio book for at least 20 minutes a day to build vocabulary and love for reading!
- Do a scavenger hunt to find items that start with certain letters, are colors of the rainbow, or in a category such as things that are bumpy. You can either have children take photos of these items or bring them all in a bag or basket.
- Create an obstacle course in your yard and race to see who can get through it the fastest.
- Cook together (good for learning fractions and math)
- Give them recycling items and have them build a structure or piece of artwork.
- Have a dance party! (my personal favorite)
- Relax together on the couch and simply enjoy the time.
A BIG thank you to the 154 families who have given their input on our BPS survey! We appreciate the few moments it took to gain more information on how to better serve your children. They have extended the deadline for input to 3/19, so if you haven't had a chance to complete there is still time! Click here:
Again, thank you for your continued support of our school and staff. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to seeing everyone next week! Stay safe and don't forget your sunscreen. :)

Students Score BIG with National School Breakfast Week!
Westside Students Learn Every Moment of Every Day!
Frist, our Jammers and Strings students are working hard each and every practice to make beautiful music!
Sixth grade students have been using Tinkercad, a free computer aided design program, to create 3D designs on the computer. When we return from Spring Break each class will vote on their favorite designs and the winners will get to have their creations printed with our school’s 3D printer.
Fifth graders have been exploring with nets and creating prisms out of cubes to understand various ways to find volume.
In Mrs. Miller's and Mrs. Johnston's class, students are interacting with text in a variety of ways. Some are using EPIC to read informational text and find key points the author makes about a text. Others are reading chapter books to enrich their vocabulary.
In Ms. Grant's Kindergarten class, the students read Nicky and the Rainy Day this week for ELA. At the end of the story, Nicky and his family go out and find a rainbow after a rainy day! The students made fruit loop rainbows and graphed how many of each color was in their rainbow!
