December News
A Note from Mrs. Phillips
Dear Charles Families:
Wow, how fast time flies when we come upon the winter months. I hope during your time off, for Thanksgiving break, you were able to connect with your child and spend some quality time together. I know and understand this time of year brings a lot of joy but also a lot of heartache. Breaks are not always easy for families. If you or your child experienced trauma or any type of event that may need support, please reach out to your child's teacher or myself. We are lucky enough to have Centerstone as a community partner and on site 3 days a week. Again, my goal is to support your child in whatever capacity I am able.
Here are some great things to celebrate from the month of November:
- Ms. Bartlemay and our 2nd-4th grade classes recorded the Fall Musical at Civic Hall....stay tuned for the video!
- United Way and More Than Words guests Mrs. Bolser and Mr. and Mrs. Holdeman were able to present the word, Contentment, to our students, in-person!
- K-Kids food drive supplied 12 families with an entire Thanksgiving feast, thank you!
- 96% or more students, in every grade level, were logged in and working in Dreambox!
- Mrs. Hollingsworth, Mrs. Burdette, Mrs. Amos, Mrs. Southerland and Mrs. Wallace's classes all met the average of 5 or more lessons on Dreambox, each week. Way to go!
- 356 certificates have been awarded for moving levels in Lexia.
- 129 students are meeting usage minutes and 73% of those students are working at or above grade level! Keep it up Chargers!
- NEHS completed their first service learning project at Brookdale Senior Living Center.
- Mr. Schamel's class earned a free ice cream party, from Culvers, for participating in Red Ribbon Week.
- Our PTO showered our staff for American Education Week.
As we look ahead to December, we will complete our middle of year NWEA assessment. We are also collecting other data points to progress monitor on how we are mastering our standards. Report cards will be out the first week of January.
Reminder: January 4th is an elearning day and your student must complete their work to be counted present. Students return in person on the 5th.
Please don't forget your child has the opportunity to practice at home, every day, with Lexia and Dreambox. You may access both through the Clever portal by clicking here. If your child needs their username and password, please contact their teacher. I hope to see your child's name on our dashboard of growth!
As always, I'm here if you need anything. I try my best to put things out there on Dojo and Social Media. If there is anything else I can do better, please let me know. You can send a personal message via Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. You may also email me or call the office. That information is found below. Have a great month Chargers!
Be kind, be amazing, and be YOU!
