Generation Texas Week
All over Texas, students are finding their voices, setting goals, and taking steps toward securing their own successful futures as part of creating a movement called Generation TX. Our students are Generation TX, and they are what’s next for Texas. With the support of their families and their communities, Texas students can become the most successful generation ever. Each day during the week of November 18 – November 22, we invite all students to participate in learning about what the future has in store.
Monday: Career Day “Dress for Success”
What do you want to be when you grow up? Dress for success in the career path of your choice.
Ideas: Scrubs can work for many careers: vet, doctor, nurse, dental assistant, physical therapist. Dress in business clothes and be a business man/woman. Wear work boots and a construction hat.
Discuss with your child what they want to be when they grow up.
Tuesday: “Off to College We Go”
Wear your favorite college’s t-shirt, jersey or colors.
Staff members will share information about college and their experiences.
Wednesday: “Go WILD for Education”
Wear camo or animal print
Staff members will talk about opportunities other than 4-year colleges.
Thursday: “Hat Off to a Successful Future”
Wear a hat.
Talk with your child about Life after Elementary School
Friday: Crazy Socks “Eagles Soar to Excellence”
Wear crazy socks, a Giesinger shirt, or both to show your EAGLE PRIDE.
Teachers will talk about the cost of college and the different ways to pay and the rich rewards of an education.
Thank you for your support!
2020-21 CALENDAR SURVEY
Details to note:
- The calendar must meet a minimum of 75,600 minutes for all students.
- High schools currently have 435 minutes a day.
- Elementary, intermediate, and junior high schools have a 430 minute day.
- Early Release counts for 420 minutes of instruction, and no waiver is needed if meeting the minimum 240 minutes of instruction.
- Currently, each grade span (elementary, intermediate, junior high, or high school) has the equivalent of 940 to 1,050 minutes of additional time built into the day and available to use to prevent the need to make-up two missed instructional days for students.
- For the 19-20 school year, the approved waiver for staff development days is for November 11 and January 7.
- Conroe ISD has an approved District of Innovation application which allows the District to start school before the fourth Monday in August (8/24/20).

Postivity Project
This week the Positivity Project Character Trait is GRATITUDE.
Gratitude is the quality of feeling and expressing
thankfulness and appreciation. It is an affirmation that there
is goodness in other people and the world, and that we
have received that goodness. People with the strength of
gratitude have a readiness to show appreciation for
kindness and also to return kindness. A leading expert,
Robert Emmons, calls gratitude a “relationshipstrengthening
emotion because it requires us to see how
we’ve been supported and affirmed by other people.”
Gratitude is sometimes resisted, especially in more selfsufficient
and independent cultures, due to not wanting to
experience a sense of indebtedness. However, gratitude is
less about feeling indebted and more about being aware of
the consideration, kindness, and generosity of others. It’s
also important to note that gratitude is not about ignoring
the negative aspects of life; it’s simply being aware of and
thankful for what is good.

"Feels Like" Temperature
We will be using Weather Underground for our daily weather check.
Please use this link and/or app. Graystone Hills has a weather station here so we will use this unless it goes down.
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/tx/conroe/KTXCONRO198
The app looks like this. Our ZIP code is 77304 then you may have to select the weather station "Graystone Hills".
Come see me if you have trouble.
If the "feels like temp" is 95-98 degrees, you may have 15 minutes of outside recess instead of 30.
If the "feels like temp" is 99 or greater there is no outside recess.
