Lounsberry Library Happening
October Events
Book Fair Bonanza
The Fall Book Fair was held from 10/24-10/28, and was a huge success! Over $5,000 worth of books were purchased by students and parents, and that helps us to grow the library program. Over $850 worth of books are being added to the Lounsberry Hollow Library thanks to all of your support. Pictures below of the books we are adding were taking by Ayden Tirado.
October Challenge
The October Challenge activity was called "BookFace" students were encouraged to take pictures with books that had faces and other body parts on them, using perspective to make the book part of themselves. See some of the great photos below! Photos were shown in the library as well as on the televisions around the school.
Halloween Slime
To celebrate Halloween, 75 students created slime in the library. A mixture of water, borax, and Elmer's glue was colored with food coloring to create this goopy slime.
In Summary....
Thanks to the book fair, this month saw a jump in classes in the library. The book fair, paired with the fact that the early school push to get a book is over shows a drop in the number of books checked out. With the weather cooling off more students are in the library at lunches, causing the number of students who visit the library to go way up! This, even though the library was closed for the last week of October for the book fair.
We've also added over 100 books to the collection since the start of the year!
