AVUHSD Update

Please note that SOAR will remain in the "at-home" learning model as we continue to align with our college partners at AVC.

At this time, SOAR students will not be part of the traditional sites' phase-in of "at-school" academic supports that was mentioned in the last "Update from AVUHSD". As soon as anything changes, we will make sure to inform you.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work at returning students back safely to campus as guidelines and restrictions permit!

City of Lancaster Honorees

The City of Lancaster recently acknowledged three of our SOAR employees for their tremendous support and contributions to our students, parents, staff, and faculty during the pandemic. Congratulations to Staci Jefferson, Rika Moya, and Jaylene Schaeffer!

Thank you so much for all the ways you have been there for all of us -- congratulations, again!

Attendance

Attendance has a direct correlation to student success! If students miss a high school class for an excusable reason, parents/guardians must email Mrs. Andrews to clear the absence: jandrews@avhsd.org and students must follow up with teachers for assignments. Students should follow up directly with college instructors in the case of an absence. Although we are not on campus, we are still responsible for record keeping. Please make attending both your high school and college classes a priority!

Habitudes - The Starving Baker

AVID classes will be introducing the next Habitudes lesson, The Starving Baker, as part of SOAR's Social Emotional Learning journey. The Starving Baker lesson teaches stress management. Stress management is the ability to manage everyday stress and lower overall stress levels to improve the quality of one’s life. Here is the link to the lesson's video so families can see it and continue the conversation at home: https://growingleaders-1.wistia.com/medias/bttobj9lg5

“This is a common hazard for leaders. We’re like the baker who spends so much time baking bread for others; we forget to eat ourselves. Leaders must feed themselves for personal growth.” ~ Habitudes
