Registration Conferences- February 15, 16 & 17!
Jaguar families are invited to conferences with students’ advisers to finalize course requests for the 2023-24 school year. These parent conferences will be held February 15th-17th, 2023. It is our goal to ensure that all families are aware of student academic performance, progress towards graduation, and complete course registration for next school year. Families will be receiving correspondence from their students advisor in the coming weeks to schedule a date and time for conferences. If you have questions, contact your students adviser, or Family Communication Specialist Ms. Reese at reesec@clarke.k12.ga.us. Career Academy Open House: Thursday, February 2nd

FAFSA Night: Wednesday, February 8th
Seniors and parents it's time to complete the FAFSA! Please attend FAFSA Night on Wednesday, February 8th at 6pm to receive help with completing your financial aid for college next year. Please arrive no later than 7:30 pm to receive help. Remember to bring your laptop, 2021 tax information, social security number, and government ID. Have questions? CSHS Blood Drive- February 9th!
Our blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 8:30 until 2:30 p.m. in CD 200 commons area. It is open to Cedar Shoals staff, the community and older students. It takes approximately an hour or less. There will be a $10 amazon gift card for all who successfully donate! A 16 year old is allowed to donate with a permission form signed by a parent. The forms are available from Mrs. Zimpfer in room A113 and need to be returned by February 8th. If you have questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Zimpfer at zimpferm@clarke.k12.ga.us

Back Gate Closed Indefinitely
Due to construction, the back gate is closed indefinitely. All vehicles must exit from the main entrance until further notice. Student drivers and staff members will need to exit through the main entrance, the back gate will not be open.
CSHS Prom: Saturday, April 22
Cedar Shoals High School Prom will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Athens Cotton Press from 7-11:00 pm. CSHS Juniors and Seniors are able to purchase tickets for $60.00 on GoFan until February 28, 2023. On March 1st, ticket price will increase to $80.00. On April 1st, ticket price will increase to $100.00. No tickets will be sold after April 11th. Tickets for prom dates will be $25.00. More information regarding prom date tickets is forthcoming. 1st Annual Joshua Sampson Memorial 5K: Saturday, February 4th
Cedar Shoals is hosting the 1st Annual Joshua Sampson Memorial 5K on February 4, 2023 at 8:00 am to honor the memory of a dedicated Cedar Shoals teacher and scheduler who was voted the 2016 Cedar Shoals Teacher of the Year. Come out to run or walk with the Cedar Community and participate in one of Josh's life passions. Registration is now open at a cost of $20. Cap & Gown Orders: Tuesday, February 7th
Graduates should order their caps and gowns through Herff Jones. Caps & gowns can be purchased online here. A Herff Jones representative will be at Cedar Shoals to take in-person orders on Tuesday, February 7th. Purchases can be made by cash, card or money order.
PBIS At Cedar Shoals
Cedar Shoals is in the process of implementing PBIS- Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. It is the goal of the PBIS team to improve the culture and climate here at Cedar as well as to empower the lives of our students and staff! PBIS will be used schoolwide to improve school safety and promote positive behavior at Cedar Shoals. Our mission with PBIS is for everyone to know the appropriate behaviors to display throughout the school day, in the classroom, at lunch, and on the buses.

Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship Applications are available now!
Performing arts and visual arts scholarships are open to 9th through 12th-grade high school students living in the Northeast Georgia region. Students who live in Athens-Clarke County are eligible for The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s performing arts and visual arts scholarships: Apply Now! Recipients awarded the performing arts and visual arts scholarships will receive $2,000 and their high school program will be presented $500. The deadline to apply for the performing arts and visual arts scholarship is March 3, 2023.

CSHS Club Fair
Cedar Shoals hosted a Club Fair Thursday morning for 9th and 10th graders. Students were able to visit tables and learn more about the various clubs and activities offered at Cedar Shoals!
9th Graders Visit UGA
Thank you to Dr. Jim Porter and Experience UGA for hosting our ninth graders on Monday at The University of Georgia! Students were able to learn about higher education, financial aid opportunities, and watched the Emmy winning film, Chasing Coral, which accompanies the 9th grade biology standards.

Athens Area Human Relations Council, Inc. Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to the following seniors who were selected to receive an Athens Area Human Relations Council, Inc. (AAHRC) scholarship. These students will be recognized at the AAHRC 44th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Banquet: Melanie Frick, Freddrell Green II, Ella Johnson, Ashley Lester, Coriander McGreevy, Ikeoluwa Ojo and Zaya Roberson.
Jaguars in Ms. Fennely’s class were tasked with creating a mask that showed how they can effect change in their lives, their school, and their communities. Students used their voices to bring light to various issues or current events. Topics students covered included gun violence, veterans, immigration, and more. Check out some of the finished products! Great job, Jaguars.

Student Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to our student athletes of the week, Ashley Lester and Ethan Oliver! Ashley Lester is a member of our girls basketball team and was nominated for having three straight games scoring 20 points. Ethan Oliver is a member of our baseball team who was nominated for being one of the top academic performers in the junior class and being an instrumental leader on the team. These students have great work ethic and show encouragement for their fellow players. Thank you to the Downtown Barberitos for sponsoring the Cedar Shoals Student Athlete of the Week!
Free Sports Physicals
Student-athletes will be able to receive free sports physicals in the nurses clinic on Wednesdays this semester. The dates are: Wed Jan 25, Wed Feb 1, Wed Feb 8, Wed Feb 15, Wed Mar 1, Wed Mar 15, Wed Apr 19, and Wed Apr 26. Students will need to fill out the consent link below, or there are paper copies available in the nurses office.

Clear Bag Policy
CSHS will implement a clear bag policy at all sporting events. This policy will be similar to policies in place at college and professional stadiums and coliseums. There will be no entrance into sporting events without a clear bag. The following types of bags are permitted inside of CSHS sporting events: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12”x6”x12”, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags, small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5”x6.5” Please see the graphic attached for examples of approved and prohibited bags.
All Sport Passes
- If your student has a chronic health condition, such as asthma, seizure disorder, severe food allergy, or diabetes, please make sure your student has visited their primary care provider and provide the School Nurse with a current healthcare plan for your student's school health file. Call the CSHS Nurse with any questions: (706) 546-5375 ext 20764.
- ALL students actively enrolled in CCSD must be up-to-date with all GA immunization requirements. This includes all students participating in-person AND remotely/virtually.Please follow up with your student's primary care provider to determine if your student is in need of any immunization. This should be done as soon as possible to ensure your student is up-to-date!
