Vision Screening Volunteers Needed
Vision screens will take place on October 23, 24 and 25th for Kindergarten, First and Third Grades. Please consider volunteering for the annual Vision Screens. This is a fun and easy way to get involved. The vision screens are important to catch visual problems early and would not be possible without parent volunteers. No experience necessary. The school nurse will provide a short training during your volunteer time. Please signup using following link. If you have any questions please email Vanessa Shafer at vdwilhelmus@yahoo.com
Lost & Found
Parents,
We have a good amount of items in our lost and found. Please have a look through the items during conferences, at which time, if things are still left in the lost and found, they will be donated to Matthew 25.
We recommend you put your student's name on the following items to avoid them being put in the lost and found:
coats
shoes
water bottles
lunch boxes
anything of importance or value
We try really hard to return items back to their owners, however, a name on the item would make it so much easier.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Help Wanted:
My Energy Kit Challenge has started!
Have you already received a My Energy Kit? Do you still want to help your school receive free money? Great! Even if you have requested and received a kit before, you can request again and your request will count towards your schools goal of 100 energy efficiency kits. If they get to 100 kits they receive 250 dollars! So help your school out and request your kit today, even if you have already received one.
Veteran's Day Celebration
Third Grade Testing
October, 2018
Dear Sycamore Families,
Next week, our 3rd grade students will be presented with the opportunity to demonstrate their progress on grade level Reading standards via the Ohio AIR assessments. These assessments will be taken online and will be taken in two parts on two separate days.
The state’s annual assessments provide a snapshot of your child’s progress in their understanding and application of curriculum standards. From a district perspective, these results allow us to benchmark ourselves against similar districts and to identify trends in data that will guide our work with teachers and students. Our teachers work diligently to fully prepare your child to be successful on these assessments and in other aspects of their growth and development.
Below, you will find a link that delineates the testing dates scheduled for students in grade 3. Information regarding specific times for assessments will be generated at each building and communicated via their newsletters and blogs. Any questions can be directed to your building administrator.
We are so appreciative of the support you provide your children in our partnership together toward academic excellence. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact your building administrator.
Sincerely,
Karen B. Naber
Assistant Superintendent

Green Team Tip of the Week
Green Team Tip of the Week: Next week, Maple Dale students will have an assembly where they will learn the why, what and how of composting and recycling at the sorting table in the lunchroom. You can learn more about the sorting table and encourage your child or children to help reduce waste by watching this video together! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcGoXc85GUE
Thank you to the volunteers who took part in last weekend’s Maple Dale Beautification Day! These Maple Dale families planted 90 daffodil, hyacinth and crocus bulbs by the school entrance for all to enjoy each year in the spring!
