Year 5 Weekly Update
Friday 13th March 2015
Week 26
Tonight is the International Food Fair! The children have been working extremely hard on their hall games and it has been wonderful to see their creativity and teamwork skills develop as a result. This is also excellent practice for our big business market day on the 24th March. We look forward to seeing those parents who are able to attend this evening.
Golden book
5B - Luke Hoang
5A - Jade Scrouther
5D - Aiden Lau
UOI - Big Business
This week the children enjoyed our trips to Sha Tin Junior and Sham Shui Po, where the business groups shopped for products, ingredients, promotions & packaging. Sha Tin's market day was a great way for the students to see displays, presentations and sales techniques first hand. A big thank you to all the parents who supported us on the day!
Next week the children will be presenting to a business panel. Some groups will be on Wednesday 18th and others on Thursday 19th March.
Over the weekend, they will need to remember to prepare to:
Learn their script & develop a cue card
Smart business dress (e.g. boys in shirt & tie with dark trousers, girls in plain blouse/shirt and skirt or dress and cardigan)
The students will also be continuing with their marketing and production plans in what will be our last full week of work before the market day.
Maths
In our strand maths this week the students have been continuing to create, read and generate questions from different types of graphs (e.g. line and pie). Within our UOI the children have also been working on accounts lists by using formulas to price their products and estimate their projected profit.
Homework this week
This week's homework:
In preparation for the business panel presentations, we would like the children to learn their scripts & develop a cue card for their contribution to the presentation next week.
Many students have set tasks within their groups. Please continue working on any unfinished work over the weekend.
