School Fair
What a fantastic night the School Fair turned out to be – I’m sorry I missed out! All the feedback from parents and teachers tells me that it was a great community event and looking at photos from the evening, it’s clear everyone was having a good time.
Christine and Gwen (PTA Chair and Vice-chair and Fair Coordinators) have asked me to pass on a huge vote of thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening and in return I would like to mention a special thanks to Christine and Gwen for their outstanding leadership and coordination. Thank you to our marvellous children, who sang and played and entertained everyone with wonderful performances – thank you. To all our teachers who ran Games stalls and performances and provided priceless experiences via the Silent Auction, thank you. To the secondary school volunteers – many of whom had come straight from a week of late nights on camp – but still turned up to help on games and stalls, thank you so much.
To our amazing parents who contributed in so many ways – baking and cooking, donating time, money, and goods to sell, turning up to sort and price, decorating, organizing, planning and taking care of every little detail that goes into an event like this – thank you for your commitment and energy and for sharing the diversity of your cultures with the school community. To those who volunteered on the night, thanks for stepping up - it just doesn’t come together without you.
To the wonderful site staff, especially Ricky Yeung and James Yim who were trouble-shooting and problem-solving for the Fair all week, and on the night - thanks for ‘going over and above’ for us all. A special thanks to Dave Buckley and Phil Sangster who worked closely with the PTA during the week to make sure everything went smoothly. Finally, heartfelt thanks to the members of the PTA Committee who coordinated all the different aspects of this event. This is an incredibly hard-working and creative team of parents and I know how much time and energy goes into every aspect of a large-scale, whole school event like this. Thank you all, for everything you do for the school.
Finally, to every parent who turned up and shopped and drank and ate – if the people don’t come, there’s no Fair. So, thank you for your support and for making this event a night out for your family.
Cold Weather Uniform
I’m aware that the Uniform Shop is experiencing delays in receiving Winter Uniform Stock and wish to repeat Dave Buckley’s message of last week. If Glenealy winter uniform items are not available and you are concerned that your child will be cold at school, it is permitted for your child to wear warm, non-uniform clothing items, preferably in dark colours.

Notes from the Nurse
- If your child is absent from school due to illness please remember to inform the school and let us know why....fever, rash etc.
- Please only send essential medication to be administered at school by the nurse. Non essential medication should be kept at home and will not be given to children.
- Please note that there are a few cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease around at present, symptoms include: Low grade fever, malaise, loss of appetite during the 1-2 day 'prodrome' period. Then lesions like blisters appear in mouth, hands, feet and sometimes on buttocks. Blisters are yellow with red 'halos'. They are not painful but may be uncomfortable and last about 3-6 days.
