At Simmons Elementary School, We're Better Together

In Kindergarten and first grade last Thursday, students and teachers celebrated reaching the 100th day of school with a variety of hands-on math activities that encouraged the 4 C’s (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking). First graders were created unique structures using sets of 100 Lego’s, marshmallows and toothpicks, and plastic cups. In kindergarten, students and staff dressed up as senior citizens and participated in many activities related to the number 100, reinforcing their emerging sense of one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and counting.
