8th Grade End of Year Activities Information
You're Invited: Innovation Showcase & Business INCubator Pitch Night
Barrington High School and the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation are proud to present the BHS Innovation Showcase & Business INCubator Pitch Night on May 18th!
The Innovation Showcase runs from 5pm-6pm at BHS near the library and commons. Various booths will feature information about middle and high school STEM education. It will also include a tour of unique learning spaces at BHS, as well as student work from Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses such as BHS-TV, Mobile Makers, graphic design, engineering, and more!
At 6pm the annual Business INCubator Pitch Night begins in the auditorium. Our BHS Business INCubator students will pitch their ideas (ABC Shark Tank style) to a panel of investors.
You're Invited: Framework 220 Coffee & Conversation
As Barrington 220 moves forward in its strategic planning process Framework 220, the district is seeking more of your feedback to develop its mission, vision, strategic priorities and learner profile.
Barrington 220 will be holding eight "Framework 220 Coffee & Conversations". At these meetings, community members will be able to learn more about the work that has been done so far in the process and provide feedback. All community members are welcome to attend. Click here to view dates/times and to RSVP.
Free Cookies!
Our food provider Sodexo is hosting a food/goods drive at both middle schools starting Wednesday, May 4th through Friday, May 20th.
For every can or dry good donated, our students will receive a fresh baked cookie. The proceeds will be donated to the community pantry and, if that wasn't enough, we will be creating a B220 masterpiece that will be entered in to Sodexo's Servathon contest for a chance to win $1000 for our district.

Notes from our Counselors
“One of the best lessons you can learn in life is to master how to remain calm.” - Bruce Lee
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. All Prairie students will have an opportunity to reflect upon positive impacts Asian American and/or Pacific Islander peoples and cultures may have had on their lives. Additionally, students will discuss the above Bruce Lee quote as it connects to social/emotional health.
BStrong's Tuesday Tips provide wonderful resources for parents and caregivers. You can view or sign up for their weekly newsletter here.
As a reminder, all students at BMS-Prairie receive social/emotional learning (SEL) lessons multiple times a year and during COLT time. In addition, all students have access to a counseling team member. If you ever have questions about our general curriculum or supports specific to your student, please feel free to contact a member of the Prairie Counseling Department.

Spring Teacher Tributes Now Available!
As summer approaches, please consider sending your child's teacher or favorite staff member off with a Teacher Tribute. Your donation to the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation in your teacher's name allows the Foundation to continue funding grants and resources to students and staff. Each recipient will receive a certificate and you may add a personal message. In addition, they will be recognized on the Foundation's website. The deadline to submit a donation is Wednesday, May 18. Click here to make your donation today!
Zooming While Quarantined
Should your child be placed on quarantine due to COVID-related reasons, he or she can access Zoom to join classes remotely. Students can access these links in each of their Schoology courses. Please understand that the Zoom links may not be immediately available once a student has been placed on quarantine. Our teachers will work as quickly as possible to allow students access and our counselors will provide students with further information.
Please understand that, per district policy, only students who have been quarantined due to COVID-related issues will be allowed to join classes remotely.
