Juan Diego Academy September 27, 2016
Announcements:
This week we continue to learn and enjoy with our songs and stories and activities everything related to our theme for this week, "Our Senses." We will be discussing the function for each of the senses and be able to relate it to our bodies as well.
We also continue to work with our number recognition, writing and associating number and quantity. We are integrating songs about colores and geometric figures.
In the area of oral language in Spanish, we are working with the vowels in both uppercase and lowercase form. We are looking at words and objects that begin with the sound the vowels make. Example: Aa de arbol(tree) or Ee de elefante(elephant).
Other songs we are using to learn concepts are: Las vocales, el abecedario, los dias de la semana, los meses del año
We want to extend an invitation to all our families to join us for Mass on Thursday. You may sit with your child in our class pews if you wish.
We look forward to seeing you every Thursday at Mass!
We will be having our first field trip to Spooner's Farm for our pumpkin patch experience on Wednesday, October 12th. We will be going in a school bus with an experienced bus driver. However, if you would like to take your own child there in your car, you are welcome to follow us. We will leave at 12:00 noon and return in time for dismissal at 2:45. If you are taking your child, you may leave from there to your home.
The Department of Early Learning will not allow other students to ride with other parents in their cars. For this reason, this year all our field trips will involve a bus or parents taking their own children in their cars. We should have room in the bus for some adults. Please look for the permission slip coming home next week.
This Friday is Pay to Dress day! We have two orphans that we send money to from our school. We raise that money by having one day a month be "free dress" no uniform but it costs $2.00 to wear your favorite clothes to school on that Friday. If you do not want to participate, then please send your child in their uniform or Seahawks or spirit gear. You could still donate $2.00 if you would like!!
We will be having our first Fire Drill tomorrow. Hopefully the children will not be too upset with the noise and flashing lights. If you can let them know at home that it is just for a little while as they get outside the front doors and that it is just practice, it would be helpful.
Thank you for all your support during our "Back to School Night." Any concern or doubt you may have over our curriculum, please write to us or visit us.. This Wednesday we will send you our survey to further learn from you how we can do the best job possible with our program.
Have a wonderful weekend!
