Week of August 31st

Dear Fulton Families,

We hope that you had a restful weekend and are excited for our upcoming events! We are eagerly preparing at FES to provide your family with curriculum materials, yearbooks (if purchased last year), and a fun welcome back surprise to start the new year off right. To help you prepare for the beginning of school, we wanted to provide you with a few reminders.

As always, as you review the information- if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

School Meals

The food services program during the 2020-2021 fall semester will consist of Grab-and-Go breakfasts and lunches served across the County, to include Fulton, Monday through Friday from 8–9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m., respectively, beginning Tuesday, September 8.

Parents of students who qualify for Free and Reduced-Priced Meals (FARMs) must submit a new application every school year. Please visit the Food Services website for more information.

Student Canvas Orientations

As we prepare to engage in virtual learning this Fall, we would like to share a useful resource with you. These Canvas orientation videos, along with student and family guides are now available to explore as we prepare for the 20-21 school year. There are two parts to the video, providing a global navigation and course structure. To view the videos, please ensure your child is logged in with their HCPSS credentials before visiting the following click here and then click "Elementary Orientation Videos."

Family File

HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Regardless of virtual or in-person learning, parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child.

Parents/guardians can complete Family File by logging into HCPSS Connect, selecting the More Options tab on the left, and then selecting Family File in the center column.

Resources on how to access Family File may be found online, including instructions on how to reset passwords.

Vaccine Clinics

Immunizations are required by state law to attend school, including virtually, and are vital for children’s overall health and wellness. To help Howard County students obtain the necessary immunizations, HCPSS Health Services continues to partner with the Howard County Health Department and the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to offer several immunization clinics for any student who may need them.

HCPSS students may attend a clinic at any location, however pre-registration is required. For more information, please review this website.

School Supply Lists

Please find the school supply list for Fulton Elementary School. The number of supplies on the list have been reduced to keep costs down for families and reflect the most essential for virtual learning. Additional materials will be provided in the Welcome Kit, students will pick up September 2nd- 4th.

Class Lists

We know your child is excited to find out who his/her teacher is. On Wednesday, September 2nd FES Homeroom teachers and math teachers will be sending a message to students welcoming them to their class.

Virtual Instruction Responsibilities, Expectations, and Best Practices

A successful virtual instruction program for the 2020-2021 school year requires collaboration and shared responsibilities among students, educators and families. Please review the student expectations and family best practices during virtual learning.
