Macbeth Act 5 scene 1
1971 Roman Polanski vs 2012 Rupert Goold
The Play VS The Films
The film versions of Macbeth are some how accurate with the book. Polanski's version is better because in the book it kind of explains that she's in her room. In the scene Lady Macbeth was in her bedroom and she acted like she was feeling guilt. I personally liked Goold's version because I think that the actor is acting like if she's feeling many things at once. She looks like she is going crazy and needs help.
Polanski, Roman 1971
Lady Macbeth was in her bedroom, sitting in a chair. She was naked. Her reactions were more scared and looked like she was feeling culpability. She didn't seem going crazy enough.
Goold, Rupert 2010
Lady Macbeth's acting was amazing. She was showing, guilt, craziness, the feel desperate, scared and that she really needed help. Her setting was in her castle, it look like she was in the middle of the hallway. Only light was focus on her.
Similarities of both films
The point of making the film be understandable to the play. They both tried to have the same feelings. They both looked lost and that needed help. Both of the director’s point was trying to make Lady Macbeth look like a woman that needed help, that needed forgiveness.
