Welcome Back to School

Dear AES Families,

I am so pleased to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. We are sending information about the start of school as it becomes available, and you can look for The Eagle Express on Fridays with timely school news. The Eagle Express comes out via email to families, is posted on the website as a weekly post, and can be found on my twitter page @aes_ssh. Below, I am addressing some specific information for you to know about AES for Kindergarten through grade 4 students. Preschool parents, I ask that you contact your child's teacher for PK-specific information. See you on the first day of school - August 31, 2022.

Arrival & Dismissal

In the mornings, we will continue using the drop-off and pick-up plan from last year. Between 8:20 -8:35, we ask that you drop off students in our loading area seen in the map. Attendance is taken at 8:40 and morning meeting begins right away so we ask that you drop off on time. If you are late, please sign your child in to the main office around the corner.

At the end of day (3:25) students will be dismissed from their classrooms, and they will walk out of the playground doors to be dismissed to cars. (Please do not arrive prior to 3:10 as doing so causes a traffic jam.) We load 6 cars at a time, so be sure to follow staff directing traffic. We try to be as expedient and safe as possible.

We ask that parents use the PickUpPatrol App to let us know if your child is out or has a change in dismissal plans. If you are new to PickUp Patrol, information will come out next week.

PTO Meeting

The AES PTO will hold its PTO meetings on the second Tuesday of the month right after school. The first meeting will take place on Sept. 13th at 3:30. All are encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to support the school and get involved.

Meet and Greet

We are hosting a casual meet and greet on August 30th. We invite Ms. Starr's class from 2-3 and Ms. Jay's class from 2:30 - 3:30. Kindergarten families are invited from 3-4. Grades 1-4 from 3:30-4:30. This is a time to drop in and see your child's classroom and connect with friends. This informal gathering helps to alleviate first-day jitters, and students will know where to go on the first day. The PTO will be serving popcorn on the playground.

Our Open House is planned for Sept. 22nd. More details to follow.
