Model of the Atom
Timeline
1803- John Dalton
He Concluded that All mater is made of atoms. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible. All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and property. compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms. A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms. ----- Picture is John Daltons Model.
1897-J.J Thompson Model of Atom
He said that no matter where matter came form, it contained particles that were the same and are smaller than atoms that matter is formed from. The model was a round thick liquidy substance rose total charge canceled out the charge of the electrons. He came to this conclusion by using a cathode ray scope. -------- Picture is J.J Thomson Model of atom
1904 Hantaro Nagaoka
Nagaoka envisioned electrons orbiting a positively charged sphere in the center. ------- Picture is the Model of Hantaro Nagaoka.
1911 - Ernest Rutherford
In 1911 Ernest Rutherford hypothesized that alpha particles shot at should go right through them. He showed this with his famous gold foil experiment to test his hypothesis. ----- Picture is Rutherford Atomic Model.
1913 - Niels Bohr
He stated that Electrons do not randomly orbit the Nucleus. Electrons move in specific layers or energy levels/shells. Atoms absorb or give off energy when electrons move form one level to another. --------- Picture is Niels Bohr Model
1924 - Louis de Broglie
The frenchman proposed that moving particles like electrons have some properties of waves. ---------- Louis de Broglie Model
1926 Erwin Shrodinger - Electron Cloud Model of the Atom
He developed a mathematical equations to describe the motion of electrons in atoms. His work leads to the electron cloud model. ------- Erwin Shrodinger Model
1932 - James Chadwick
He Confirmed the existence of neutrons, which have no charge. Atomic nuclei contain neutrons and positively charged protons. ---------- James Chadwick model
