Dear parents,
Only one more week to go! It has been a long stretch of learning for the students, and they have kept working really hard. I am sure you will agree, the concert on Friday was fantastic. I imagine everyone was exhausted on Friday night!
10-Minute Teach
Gui gave an excellent presentation about saxophones. He shared his enthusiasm for the instrument, and taught us that there are many different types of saxophones. Well done, Gui!
Hanukkah Activity
Merav Yatzcan (Sa'ar's mom) came into class and taught us all about the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah. We learned the story behind the holiday, about food eaten, and games played. We also saw the eight-candle display that symbolizes Hanukkah. Thank you, Merav!
Birthday!
Billy celebrated his birthday on Monday. He brought in some delicious cake for us all to share. Happy birthday, Billy!

It was Isabella's birthday on Tuesday. She shared Dunkin' Donuts with the class to celebrate her special day. Happy birthday, Isabella!
10-Minute Teach
Sa'ar talked about dogs for his 10-minute teach. He also showed us a short video of some dogs performing amazing physical challenges, and then a hilarious video of dogs and their owners having fun. Well done, Sa'ar!
Willow Prize Winner!
Billy won the Willow prize for last week. He certainly deserves it because of all of his hard work and helpful behavior recently. Good job, Billy!
The Week Ahead
Math
We will finish our unit about finding the area of triangles. Students will complete an assessment to show their understanding of the concepts covered in this chapter.
Writing
We will begin our unit on writing a research-based persuasive essay. We will discuss an issue, work on finding information about the issue, and forming an opinion based on the research.
Reading
In addition to group novel reading and independent reading time, we will enjoy reading and discussing some festive poetry this week. We might even try writing one of our own!
