Hamline Family Newsletter

A Note from Principal Reilly

Greetings Families,

March is amongst us and the beautiful sunshine and warmer days are ahead. We have almost made it through another Minnesota winter! Hats off to us (literally).

I wanted to touch base with you specifically around the possibility of an upcoming teacher strike. I want all families to be prepared in the event that a settlement is not reached between SPPS and the St. Paul Federation of Educators. A strike could occur as early as Tuesday, March 10. This might mean no school for students beginning Tuesday, 3/10. Additional negotiations meetings will continue with the teacher bargaining group in the next week to work towards a contract agreement. For more information, visit:

SPPS Negotiations

Just a reminder that on Friday, March 6th there is no school as it is teacher conference prep day. Conferences will be held the evenings of March 17th and 19th and during the day of March 20th. Look for conference slips in your children's backpacks with your scheduled conference time.

Our beloved Kathy from Mobile Menders will be here on March 18th to fulfill all your mending needs for free. Nothing makes Kathy happier than to get items in need of some lovin. Well something may make her happier, but you would never know it. Send in items with your children, or drop off in the Family Resource Room. She will send your items back as good as new. Really she does love it so don't hesitate.

This month our School Spirit Day is all around INQUIRY! On March 27th we will be inquirers and take on challenges that engage all learning styles and support us in building our school competencies around being critical thinkers, collaborators, communicators, creators and self/community aware. It is also our school-wide assembly at 1:00 so come one, come all!

We love our community and all the gifts you bring to us. Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education. We are honored that Hamline is your school of choice.

Big picture

Please give your child/children an extra reminder about washing their hands. Though there has not been a case of the Coronavirus in Minnesota as of March 1, we must remain alert and take extra precaution. As with other infectious diseases, there are steps everyone can take now to prevent becoming ill:

  • Practice good hand hygiene
  • Cover your cough
  • Stay home if you're sick

Students of the Month

Here are some of our Students of the Month. Each month different students are chosen based upon their strenghs:). It is always hard to choose as we have a school full of amazingness:). Congratulations to all of last months recipients! You make us proud.
