I am so excited to begin 2021 as your new principal! My name is Lora Bumatay. I come to Chula Vista Middle School with 25 years experience as an educator with a majority of my time working at the middle school level. I am very familiar with Chula Vista Middle as I worked at this site many years ago as the ASB advisor. It is wonderful to come "home".

A huge part of my excitement is because our school is special in so many ways. We are THE first middle school established in the city of Chula Vista! And as you know we are also THE School of the Creative and Performing Arts! Research shows that engaging in the Visual and Performing Arts helps the brain decode reading, generates connections and enhances vocabulary development. Our students will engage in meaningful lessons and activities that will not only grow their content knowledge but also develop critical thinking skills to cultivate them into outstanding students, compassionate friends and inspiring leaders. Our focus is to build each of our students to success so that they have only the best options ahead of them! The path to appreciating the Arts and being college and career ready starts here!

My highest recommendation for students at Chula Vista Middle is to EMBRACE your time here! We offer so many magnificent classes and programs, I encourage you to look around our website and contact any of our staff on how you can get involved. The more you participate, the more you will gain as a Cavalier!
