A Message from Dr. Blount

Hutsell Families:

I hope everyone is safe and taking extra precautions to remain well.

Most of you have probably read the state or district communication released in regards to the extended school closure through May 4, 2020. My hope is that families will spend time together having conversations and reflecting on memories that often get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Sincerely,

Dr. Margie Blount

Hutsell Elementary Principal

We may not be in school, but... the learning doesn't stop! This week's theme is HOME

Online Learning Week 3

This week your child’s homeroom teacher will send a Content Board (note the change in name from Choice Board to Content Board). There will be items students will need to complete, such as mini-lesson videos or read aloud videos presented by grade level teachers at Hutsell. Additionally, there are technology applications to support the content areas. After these activities, there will be choice activities from district Choice Boards which students/parents can choose. The most important pieces will be the mini-lessons from teachers. Again, if any assignment is frustrating in nature after your child has tried completion for approximately 10-15 minutes, please stop and let your child’s teacher know.

Please use the guide below to use Canvas from MyKaty Cloud.

Breakfast and Lunch for Students During School Closures

This week, the Grab and Go curbside service is Monday - Thursday. Please see the new guidelines for meals below:

Katy ISD partners with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to provide free and reduced cost meal services such as the 'Grab and Go’ meals program for Katy children. A recent change in TDA policy is now requiring parents picking up meals without a child present to present documentation for each child.

Beginning on March 31, 2020, the Nutrition and Food Services staff at all Katy ISD Grab and Go curbside locations will implement the below changes:

If child(ren) are present – no additional documentation is needed.

If child(ren) are not present - Parent/Guardian must provide one of the following items for all children 18 and under:

  • Official letter/email/electronic school application
  • Student Report Card
  • Student ID card
  • Attendance Records with student’s names
  • Birth certificate
