5th Grade Family News
Dear 5th Grade Family,
Thank you for all your efforts to help make FSA successful. Testing is finished for 5th grade (except for a few individuals that will be made up in the next few days). Our students got to celebrate with a Dunkin' Donuts party outside this afternoon. We are proud of their success! Way to go 5th grade!

Miss Anderson's Language Arts Class
This week, 5th grade is continuing to read our novel study, Out of My Mind. We are experiencing firsthand how not being able to talk or move efficiently can have a significant effect our daily functions. This week, we used communication boards and our own personal “Catherine” to help us communicate.
Spelling is on hold for now. We will pick back up next week with Unit 4 Lesson 5 in Spelling. Monday brings brand new Reading story about Ellen Ochoa. As always remember to have your student read 20 minutes every evening.
Happy May!

Mrs. Pennington's Science and Social Studies Class
Our focus for the week will be on social studies since we have spent the last two weeks preparing for SSA (Statewide Science Assessment). In social studies, we will be learning about the American Revolution. The students will be learning about the strategies employed by both the patriots and the British. We are also going to look at how other groups of people influenced the outcome of the American Revolution. Depending upon testing they will have an opportunity to create re-enactments. Our character trait for the month of April is friendship.

Take Home Batman the Hedgehog for the Weekend
Batman is looking to go on vacation with your child! I have some very interested children who would love to take him home.
If you do take him home, I ask that he not be left with other large pets or small children. A shelf is fine where he is out of harms way. He eats cat food and needs to have his bedding cleaned out daily. Your child would receive a Mini Batman Training Course before they take him home. He is easy to take care of. He will have so much fun in your home! Sign up today!
