Girls Wrestling Kicks Off Inaugural Season With Win
Tuesday night Viking fans packed the stands at Howell to witness the first ever Girls Wrestling dual in school history take place as they faced off with FZS. The MSHSAA has added girls wrestling this season and as Viking fans expect, Howell has jumped in with a high level of committment and support for the seventeen girls competing for the first time ever. The dual on Tuesday consisted of three matches with FZS girls wrestlers. Sydney McGhee, Dani Lindsey and Alyssa Miller all earned wins by pin in the first period of their matches to bring home the first dual win in program history. Boys Wrestling Earns Dual Win Over FZS
The JV Boys Wrestling team also brought home a dual win and the freshman tied. You can catch our Vikings in action next Wednesday as they take on DeSmet in a dual at home beginning at 6pm.
Howell Iron Chef Team Serves Up Good Eats
Howell students recently competed in the FHSD Iron Chef Culinary Throwdown. Student teams from each high school were given time to create their dishes which were later presented to judges. Those in attendance were able to taste the items created by students. The Howell team took home fourth place. Congratulations to our students, staff, and Mrs. Rupp for their hard work in the Iron Chef Challenge!

STUCO Collects 3,165 Cans For Oasis Food Pantry
This week students in all second hour classes collected canned food items to benefit the Oasis Food Pantry. STUCO holds this yearly event to benefit the organization and local families in need. This year Howell collected 3,165 cans! Congratulations to our Howell family for coming together to support such a great cause.

144 Fall Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Conference Honors
This fall our Howell student-athletes not only excelled in their sport but they also had success in the classroom. Fall student-athletes had a grade of "C" or higher in nearly 98% of all classes attempted. Our fall student-participants also held an over 97% attendance rate during the first quarter. For their efforts in the classroom, 144 fall Howell student-athletes were recognized as Academic All-Conference performers. Below you can find the list of all 144 students listed by sport. Congratulations to our fall sports programs for another successful season. Our programs won eight of a possible nine GAC Championships during the fall, which set a school and GAC record. Over the course of the past two seasons our fall sports have won a total of thirteen conference championships out of a possible eighteen. As the fall All-State teams begin to be released our Vikings have already begun to be well represented. Recently the boys soccer and girls volleyball All-State teams were released and Howell had representatives on both teams that recognize the top players in the State. This fall Howell had three student-athletes earn State medals. Congratulations to the following Vikings for representing Howell at the State level and for bringing home State medals!
Lady Viking tennis players Becca Zile and Elise VanMatre advanced to the medal round at the MSHSAA State Championships and finished 8th at State in Doubles. Congratulations to Becca and Elise on this great accomplishment.
Viking diver Josh Smith advanced to the finals of the MSHSAA Boys Swim & Dive Championships and earned a 3rd place finish. The 3rd place finish is the highest finish for a boys diver in program history. Congratulations to Josh on a great season!
18 Student-Athletes Sign During Early Signing Day
Over the course of the past four years Howell has sent over 235 students on to further their education and activity or sport at the college level. Last Wednesday, eighteen student-athletes in the class of 2019 signed during the early signing period to further their education and sport at the college level. The seventeen student-athletes signing on Wednesday marked the most in the State. Congratulations to the following young men and women and their families for this great accomplishment. We are proud to have each of these Vikings representing Howell at the college level.
