St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 3 | 5 AUGUST 2022
Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parent and caregivers,
Thankfully, as I write this week’s newsletter the wind and rain has finally subsided, and the students are able to enjoy some outside play, although, I’m sure we haven’t seen the end of the winter weather.
On Tuesday, I had the absolute pleasure to attend the Catholic Performing Arts Festival ‘Spirits of the Arts’ at Mercy College to watch our Year 2 students perform in the Christian Dance section. Words cannot express how proud I was of the students and their performance, which they created themselves. The reverence and grace that shone through during their performance was wonderful. Thank you to Mrs Naomi Clarkson for guiding our students and allowing their voice to shine! Well done to everyone.
Well done to our Year 3 and 5 students on completing the Bishops’ Religious Literacy Assessments BRLA) this week. This BRLA is a large-scaled, standardised assessment that consists of Religious Education tests developed and marked by CEWA. The purpose of the BRLA is to assess students learning of the Religious Education curriculum with the data used to inform future planning in this learning area.
It has come to my attention that there has been a number of comments made regarding the ‘Lego Robotics Club’ that is held after school and run by Mr Chris Rebeiro. At St Elizabeth’s, we are very good at early literacy intervention and the programs that we have introduced have been very successful. The time has come for us to investigate some extension programs and, therefore, we are trialling a ‘Lego Robotics Club’ for students in Year 3 to 6. Classroom teachers have invited selected students to participate in this program. These students display higher levels of critical and creative thinking, advanced problem-solving skills and work well both independently and within a small group activity. Running Club is available every morning for all students, weather permitted.
Finally, with the flu season in full swing, I would like to remind parents and caregivers that if your child is unwell, please consider the school community and keep them home until they are well enough to come back to school. Please email the school admin if your child will be away from school.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Survey by Catholic Education - How you feel about our school?
Our parents have been invited to participate in the School Registration Audit by providing your feedback on the school. This survey has been created by CEWA Ltd head office and your responses will not be fed back to the school, and you are not required to identify yourself if you do not wish to. Your participation in this process helps inform improvement, and allows our system the opportunity to provide better support to our students and communities.
