WSMS Principal Newsletter

January 6, 2023

Good Afternoon Willow Families,

Thank you for the warm welcome you and your students extended to me this week. Many of them introduced themselves on the first day and we enjoyed making connections between Willow and their siblings at the high school. They were excited to share with me their ideas for the spring semester and test my knowledge of SEC football.

Many students had questions about Leopard Time. The decision to pause Leopard Time for the first 3 weeks of the spring semester was made prior to my arrival to Willow. This decision was made by the leadership team in order to reflect upon how to improve this time for students. We are prioritizing safety and security, student academic success, access to engaging campus clubs, and structures that allow our campus to quickly locate students during this time if they are needed for a parent sign-out, or content-specific tutorial or extension lesson. We look forward to relaunching Leopard Time and will communicate the adjustments to parents and students.

Have a wonderful weekend Leopards!

Sincerely,

Caitlin Eldredge

WSMS Interim Principal

Final exam grades will be posted in PowerSchool on Friday, January 6th. Final Exams are a summative assessment over material that has been covered during the first semester. Teachers will be closing out their grades for the first semester once final exams have been completed. The summative data from final exams will provide teachers with a road map for instructional planning and intervention during the spring semester.

Final Exam Make Up

If your child was unable to take a final exam before Winter Break, please have them contact the teachers to schedule a time to complete it in the next week. Your child may receive an "Incomplete" as a grade until the final exam is completed.

Community Supplies Needed

At the beginning of each school year we ask for donations of the following: kleenex, hand sanitizer, paper towels and sanitizing wipes, to supply our classrooms and other areas. We’ve noticed that our supply is getting low. Please consider picking up some of these items next time you're at the store. All donations may be dropped off in the front office.
