EJES News
September 27, 2019
Dear Families,
We had an exciting Homecoming week and are off to a fantastic start. The Pep Assembly was so much fun and our 4th graders won the Victory Cheer!
Moving to October we will have a monthly kindness challenge. Each day we will have a new challenge and throughout the month we will teach and discuss what kindness looks like at EJES. Please take a few moments, throughout October, to discuss kindness at home. What it looks like, sounds like and feels like. Be aware when these teaching moments around kindness presents itself. Together we can have a great impact on our students, both inside and outside of school.
I want to take a moment and continue to encourage everyone to spend time reading at home. Spending time reading at home is clearly linked to student achievement. Please continue to make time to talk to your child about what they are reading, engage in our teacher's weekly newsletter that explains the work our kids are doing in class, and help provide time for reading each week.
In continuing our best year ever, I want to say how grateful I am to have your students at East Jordan Elementary School. It is truly an honor.

M-STEP Reports (4th-6th grade students)
Michigan Student Test of Education Progress (M-STEP) reports will be mailed home at the beginning of next week.
M-Step was taken in the spring of 2019 and the results reflect your child’s understanding of skills and concepts at that time. The test measures students’ proficiency with regards to Michigan Academic Standards in each grade level.
Please review your student’s report and contact your current classroom teacher or Mrs. Vrondran if you should have any questions.
Respectful, Responsible, Safe!
It’s time to get outside and grow with the GardeNature Club!
The GardeNature Club is a hands-on, nature-immersion experience for students of all ages to get their hands dirty and their lungs full of fresh air as they learn about the natural world around them. Activities include sowing seed, transplanting, watering, weeding, harvesting, food preparation and preservation, nature-inspired art, observing, exploring, citizen science, and learning about some of the many fascinating legends, lore, and cultural stories behind the plant species in our local ecosystem.
Be curious, be creative, get growing!
