Art
We've had a great stART in ART! 5th, 4th and 2nd graders have started the year off with kindness! The district holds a Kindness Card Contest so they are designing our own card revolving around what kindness means to them! First grade is learning about landscapes, symmetry in art and nature, and monarch migration! 3rd graders are making a “ glass” inspired bowl based on Seattle artist Dale Chihuly! Kindergarten is making clay pinch pots and doing such a great job! So proud of my amazing artist!
PE
We have had such a great start to the year in PE! We have worked on over/under with our Kinder students and underhand toss, bowling and overhand throw with all our K-5th grade students. Ask your child(ren) why it’s important to step with our opposite foot when doing all 3 skills and about accuracy. You will be amazed by their response. See below for a few snapshots of our work in PE.
Here are some fun activities to keep you healthy and active at home..
Music
All grades learned about some of the music of Jon Batiste this month. We talked about the difference between blues and jazz. Blues or jazz? What do you think? Check your answer with your kiddo. :) http://www.viewpure.com/-Xnu1aCyx5I?start=0&end=0
We also talked about the difference between conductors and composers. 2nd-5th collaborated on mini compositions reviewing our known musical rhythms to create a rap of their own choice. Here’s a sneak of a 5th grade group: IMG_4900.MOV.
