Fall PSAT Testing

The Fall PSAT date is October 13th. 9th grade students will be taking College Board's PSAT 8/9. This exam is in a digital format. Freshmen must bring a charged Chromebook.

10th and 11th grade students will be taking College Board's PSAT/NMSQT exam in the traditional paper and pencil format.

ALL COMPASS ACADEMY 9TH-11TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL TAKE THE PSAT AT THEIR HOME HIGH SCHOOL. The test is on a Wednesday, so students who do not typically attend classes at their home high school will have the option to take district transportation to and from East or North that day.

Additional Information :

  • Testing will begin at 7:20 a.m. and dismissal will be at approximately 11:45 at the conclusion of testing.

  • Students should take their normal routes in the morning if they typically ride to East or North. For full-time Compass Academy students, transportation information will be shared individually on Tuesday. Students testing with extended time will be provided shuttles home.

  • Seniors will not be in attendance on this date and should use the time for college or career exploration.

Navigation, Extended Study Option for Students

Since there is not failure at Compass Academy, there is just "not yet" when it comes to demonstrating competency, students who do not demonstrate competency in one or more of their 1st quarter courses will be given the opportunity to continue to work with support, as needed, during either Block C (2:30-3:45 pm on all school days but Wed.) or Block D (4:15-6:45 pm, Tues. & Thurs.) in the 2nd quarter in order to earn credit for those courses. Our goal is for every student to demonstrate competency in every course, regardless of the time needed to meet that goal.

In addition to demonstrating competency in a course, students who have consistently demonstrated an extended understanding of essential content and skills may earn the opportunity to attain advanced competency in that course through criteria designated by their teacher. This work may also be done with support, if needed, during Block C or Block D during 2nd quarter.

Parents will be notified this week by Mrs. Stanley if their student is likely to receive an invitation to attend Block C (or Block D, if they are scheduled for a Block C seminar) for Navigation and there will be an opportunity then to register students for this opportunity. District transportation will be provided for eligible students who attend Block C.
