Family Update

Happy Friday Davis Families!

Welcome to the final Friday Family Update of the 22-23 school year. This has been an amazing year and we thank you for sharing your students with us. Our students have grown in so many ways this year. We are beaming with pride for our students' achievements, whether in the classroom, on the stage, on the field or court, they continue to make us so proud. They all represent Davis and your family so well. Thank you for your support of your students and for us!

There is a bit of information below that leads into summer but please watch out for periodic emails from me over the summer that will include back to school information. Those will start later in July.

We would like to wish a huge congratulations to Mr. Kevin Masterson, our administrative intern for the last two years. Kevin has accepted an assistant principal position at a middle school in another district. We couldn't be prouder or happier for him as he starts this new adventure. He will be missed!

Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our exceptional team of educators and staff members at Davis for their tireless efforts, creativity, and unwavering dedication to our students' success. Their passion for teaching and their commitment to providing a nurturing environment have positively impacted the lives of our students in countless ways. I am truly grateful to serve as your principal and be a part of this incredible team of educators and of this amazing school community.

I wish you all a wonderful summer filled with quality time and memory making opportunities.

Grades will be posted on Friday June 2, 2022. Please check your students' Progressbook for the most recent grade card. Grade Cards will not be mailed home. Any questions or concerns regarding grades or grade cards should be emailed directly to Mrs. Frazee at Frazee_Laura@dublinschools.net.

Literacy involves reading, writing, speaking, listening, thinking, and interacting. When considering reading, research shows that choice and volume of reading are essential to reading development. Reading over the summer is a critical way to maintain and build upon the reading habits developed throughout the school year. Dublin City Schools values our students’ reading lives. Therefore, we will provide year-round opportunities for our students to engage in experiences that will allow them to grow in literacy. Click here for the middle school summer reading information.

On Thursday, March 30 we held an informational meeting for current 7th grade families about the Washington, DC trip that will be offered to 8th grade students in October 2023.

If you are moving and withdrawing your student please contact our Guidance Secretary, Laura Frazee, at frazee_laura@dublinschools.net or 614-718-8613. Per the Middle School Student Handbook, a withdrawal form must be picked up in the Guidance Department at least three days prior to withdrawal. This is especially important as we near the end of the school year so that we have enough time to forward your student's cumulative records to their new school. Thank you!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every parent that participates in the PTO. Whether you are a cabinet member, a donor, a volunteer...we appreciate all that you do to support our staff and students. The partnership that we share with the Davis PTO is second to none and makes our school community that much stronger.

Scioto Lady Irish excited to announce our 2023 summer camp! Our Youth Camp is open to girls entering grades 2-8 and will be June 13th-15th from 9:00-11:30am at the Dublin Scioto Gym. Register at the link before or see attached flyer for more details!

The first annual Dublin Coffman Cross Country Camp will be hosted by the Dublin Coffman XC team, coaches, and boosters.

WHO: Any incoming 4th through 8th grader (boys or girls!) interested in running, cross country, or just looking to get in shape for the fall!

- Those who are planning on competing in middle school cross country this year.

- Those who are planning on competing in middle school cross country in the future.

- Those who are training for a local 5k or other race.

- Those who are looking to get into shape for their fall sport or other reason.

- Those who just want to see if they might like running.

WHAT: A four day running camp filled with:

-Running, training, and nutrition advice from the Coffman cross country runners and coaches

-Runs of various intensities/lengths depending on skill/age/experience

-Fun games and competitions including prizes

-Bonding and friendships being made, while learning what Coffman XC is all about

- Daily snacks

-A fun race to end the week

WHERE: We will meet at Dublin Coffman HS, outside the stadium each day.

WHEN: Monday, July 24th through Thursday, July 27th from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM each day.

COST: $80 for the week

The entry fee will go to providing all campers with:

- A Coffman camp t-shirt

- Post-workout snacks and drinks

- The end of week race

A great chance to try out running or to just get in shape!

Jerome High School Field Hockey Head Coach, Olivia Wawrzyniak, and the varsity Field Hockey players invite all students entering grades 1 through 8 to the Future Celtic Youth Field Hockey Clinic on June 10th from 9 am to 11:30 am. Each player will have the opportunity to attend an exciting clinic, have a great experience, learn FUNdamentals and essential field hockey skills from our seasoned coaches and players.
