April 2019
Principal's Message
Happy Spring! On behalf of the Klein Cain faculty and staff, I would like to thank everyone for your continued support for our Hurricanes! We have been very busy since we have returned to campus this semester! There is so much to look forward to as we embark on this end of the year adventure!
There is A LOT of information in this issue of Hurricane Happenings, so please make sure to take your time and review all of the information that has been included. We have information about upcoming events (through the 1st week of May), district news and announcements, campus celebrations and much, much more!!
The arrival of spring also signals the arrival of testing! Whether it is EOC/STAAR, AP Testing, TELPAS, or ACT/SAT, most students will take a very important test on a variety of days. Information, such as testing dates and times, will be posted on our website and via Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow us on social media!
Finally, as stated above, our students are active and involved in so many clubs/organizations and team representing our campus in competitions, meets, games and contests! We would love to see you out and about cheering on our Hurricanes!
Reign Cain,
Nicole Patin

School Newspapers Online recognizes Cain Live as a 2019 SNO Distinguished Site
Each year, School Newspapers Online (SNO) offers student journalism programs with outstanding online publications the opportunity to apply to become a SNO Distinguished Site. Last month, the staff of Klein Cain High School's publication, Cain Live, earned this status.
Before being awarded the title of SNO Distinguished Site, Cain Live earned online digital badges in the areas of site excellence, story page design, writing, multimedia, coverage and audience engagement.
Representing what SNO sees as the six components of a modem news website, these six individual badges make up the SNO Distinguished Sites program.
SNO started the SNO Distinguished Sites program to eliminate ambiguity and delineate standards of excellence for an online student news site. Last year, 28 schools earned all of the badges and the honor of becoming a SNO Distinguished Site.

Congrats to Jacob Elbert and students of Cain Live! We are so proud of you!
