Centerview families,
I had planned a fun message today – with only two weeks left of school. But, the tragic events in Texas yesterday are top of mind for many of us. Earlier today, Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg pulled us together as district and school leaders in the wake of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas yesterday. We are all deeply saddened and feeling for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence.
As we gathered, we all wanted to remind families that we have supports in place at school as children process events like this in different ways. Please reach out with any specific requests and concerns. At home, you may find this resource from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) helpful: Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents and Educators along with the accompanying infographic. This resource is also available in Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Somali and Vietnamese.
Nothing is more important than providing the safest school environment possible. Security features in each of our buildings have been installed and upgraded in recent years, and we’re making certain that all security procedures we’ve established are being followed. We also have very strong partnerships with our local law enforcement agencies.
We do hope to continue to find fun in these last two weeks of school. There is a genuine excitement, from both students and staff, for our days to come as we approach summer break. It’s going to go fast and we’ll seize every opportunity to finish well with learning and have some fun along the way.
Here are a couple of updates and reminders:
- Thank you - PTO: We had our final Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting for the year on Monday. The group was awesome as we reminisced about the year, highlighted PTO contributions in supporting our learning environment and discussed the celebrations and FUN to come as we conclude the school year. Three people from our PTO will be moving on to Westwood. Thank you to Sara Boulger, Karissa Krantz and Becky Heimensen! They have been an integral part of our PTO from the start as they supported, lead and created time in their life to contribute to the Centerview community. They each made a difference for ALL our students. We are fortunate and will have others stepping up as they have. Thank you!
- Updating iPads: Please pay special attention to information in today’s newsletter about how to update your student’s school-issued iPad for summer use and for next school year. If you don’t want to keep the iPad over the summer or won’t be returning next year, please be in contact with the Centerview main office – 763-600-5500.
- No school Monday, May 30: As a reminder, there is no school next Monday, May 30 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. No matter what we do this Memorial Day weekend and on Memorial Day itself, this holiday offers a chance for the solemn remembrance of those who served our country and are no longer with us, but who are forever in our hearts. There is a National Moment of Remembrance Act, which encourages every citizen to pause on Memorial Day at 3 p.m. to remember the brave men and women who died in service to our nation.
Please reach out with any question or thoughts as we conclude the school year.

Preparing student iPads for the summer and next year
As we near the end of the school year, it's a great time to assess the status of your student's school-issued iPad and complete a little easy maintenance. Here are three steps to getting your student's iPad ready for summer - and next school year.
- Update your student's iPad: Student iPads need to be wiped, set up and updated. This will free up storage and ensure the iPad's software has been fully updated. Follow the instructions at our iPad Resource Hub to make these updates so your student will be prepared and successful for next school year.
- Report iPad issues: Let us know if your student's iPad is damaged, lost or stolen, or if you are having issues with accessories not working correctly. We want to get any issues resolved prior to the new school year. If accessories are lost, a fee will be applied online on Campus Parent Portal. Learn more in the iPad Repair and Fees Frequently Asked Questions.
- Use these best practices for summer: We're compiled these recommendations for the best way to care for, clean and use your school-issued iPad this summer. It's also a great time to review the district's Technology Responsible Use and Safety Policy. Families have full control when and how iPads will be used over the summer. Find out how to block access to certain websites and set up Screen Time here.
