ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Did you know research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
And, by 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
That is why it is our goal here at NLMS for students to miss two days or less per month (18 days per year). We understand there is illness, please stay home, but being at school each and every day is important. We want to recognize students with good attendance and improved attendance by handing out Attendance Bulldog Bucks. They will redeem the special Bucks at lunch on Thursday, November 20 for a special treat. This is a small way for us to say thank you for being here. This will repeat each month so every student can be recognized, hopefully many times!
For more information on the importance of attendance please visit www.attendanceworks.org.

There is no doubt that the Fall season has arrived and with it brings inclement weather. Heavy wind and rain may cause power outages, downed trees, and limbs which could impact school schedules and transportation routes. We will not send or post messages if schedules are normal. No news means that schools are open. Please visit: https://www.lkstevens.wednet.edu/Page/136 for information regarding changes in school schedules or bus routes, due to weather or other conditions, or to sign-up for Flash Alert updates.
