Message From Ms. Biordi
Happy New Year! Friday was the end of the Q2 progress reporting cycle. Progress reports will be sent home this week and can also be accessed by logging into ParentPortal. In mid-December a packet was sent home to families about completing the PowerSchool Returning Student Registration Form and creating PowerSchool Parent Portal accounts. Thank you for your attention to this matter, it is really important to us that we have the correct contact information for all of our students! As more families begin to access PowerSchool Parent Portal, we will begin to rely more on this tool. For example, the Q2 progress report will be the last paper progress report families will receive; the Q3 progress reports will be sent digitally.
I am thrilled to announce two NEW building wide events that we are excited to plan and host - Parent Resource Night and the STEAM Fair! Students are encouraged to use their own curiosity and creativity to develop the project and research! Project applications are due on February 2nd to your child's teacher. Application to enter the STEAM Fair, and all student work on the project, should be done independently under the supervision of an adult at home. Health Message from our School Nurse 🤒
Please be aware that there have been many cases of Flu A, Flu B, RSV and Strep along with a few cases of Covid-19 at Sargent school in recent weeks. Parents are encouraged to sanitize surfaces at home and should remind students to wash their hands. At school, we are working closely with our custodial staff to sanitize classrooms, common areas and surfaces multiple times per day. Students are allowed to wear masks to school and masks are available in the main office.
If your child is not feeling well, we recommend they stay home. School nurses cannot diagnose students with illness, we can only check vitals and administer first aid. In order to prevent the spread of contagious disease, We ask that the parents not send students to school with ANY of the following symptoms:
- ELEVATED TEMPERATURE: A student should not be sent to school until their temperature has been normal for 24 hours.
- NAUSEA OR VOMITING: If a student has vomited during the evening, night or prior to coming to school, they should not be sent to school.
- OTHER SYMPTOMS: Excessive cough, complaint of sore throat accompanied by headache, muscular aches or pain.
