CSHS Weekly Bulletin
August 29-September 3, 2016
Goal Setting
Dear Cougar Family,
At the end of every year, I wrack my brain to think of a new year's resolution that will stick. Most often, I go to my old standby: to quit drinking my beloved Dr. Pepper. Some years my resolve on this subject lasts longer than others. Once, I even made it a few months.
This resolution, or goal, never lasts for me because it is missing one key ingredient: it is not emotionally compelling. In fact, it is the opposite for me. It brings me great stress and anxiety because the Dr. Peppers are beloved after all.
When we wrote goals last year, I shared mine with you via this weekly bulletin. Looking back at them, they were important to me, but they were by no means emotionally compelling. Much like the Dr. Pepper resolution, I would benefit from meeting those goals, but they were missing the extra umff.
As you finalize your personal goal(s) through meeting with your evaluator this week, please keep this in mind. The P.E.E.R.S. goals format (illustrated below) asks us to delve deeply into what we are passionate about as educators and create goals that will help us be better at our craft. For me, there is nothing more emotionally compelling than that. I look forward to seeing your goal(s) for the year and finding out what you will do to refine your skills as an educator.
Have a fabulous week making a difference in the lives of our students! And as always, COUGAR PRIDE!

School Spirit Contest During Advocate
Make sure you show the Fight Song and Alma Mater videos during Advocate so the students can learn them. For teachers new to our campus, our students sing the Alma Mater after every game. It is absolutely my favorite tradition we have!
Be creative and see how you can get kids to learn the words, so they are ready to go for our first pep rally this Friday!
Record your class creatively performing either the Alma Mater or the Fight Song and submit all entries to Mrs. Parkerson via email. One class winner will be selected for each song to receive a pizza party. Winners will be shared via Twitter on Friday.
Content Mastery
Remember that ANY student is able to receive help in content mastery. Teachers can start sending students down to room 1046 after instruction (with a Content Mastery pass). Please send any supplemental aides or resources students may need to complete an assignment with them when they come.
Questions? See/email Coach Walsh.
Cougar Pride Yearbook
Staff can buy a copy of the 2016-2017 Cougar Pride yearbook now for the lowest price of the year at www.smart-pay.com. The current price ($75) will increase to $80 on Sept. 17, and then to $85 on Oct. 15. After online sales end in the spring, we must charge the full price plus tax (around $97).
We appreciate the support of our staff and all of the positive feedback we received on last year's book. We're already hard at work on this year's book, whose theme, Vivid, incorporates both our school's 5th anniversary (roman numeral V) and the awesomely vibrant and passionate student body we're lucky to serve.
